Let's talk about screws? They must be aligned.

    One real, one replica.

Replicas have no place at a Concours.
The 308 in question if entered, should score ZERO, as it is neither a 308 anymore, and fails in its attempt to come close to a good representation of an F40.
There are, and have been many replicas (recreations) over the years call it what you like. 250 California, GTO, 288,F40, take your pick, some if fact have been so good that even the self appointed experts couldn't call it.
This, however, is not one of those times.
A re-bodied car however, would win much more praise in my opinion.
It was not an unusual request for a customer of Ferrari to appoint a design house to create a special bodied one off car for them, Turin, Drogo, Zagato, etc, these "One Offs" now are worth millions. The 375MM "Ingred Bergman" car.
Even today, we have re-bodied Zagato designed 575's, that in my opinion looks fabulous, and the Glick can pull a perfectly good Enzo apart and re-body it .........cause he can.
This would be another discussion, and everybody will have a view, but Replicas at a Concours,,,, nup.

And a big thumbs up to Denis for bringing his magnificently original 1972 365GTC/4, in my humble opinion the car of the day.

The sad part though Jim,is the builder of the abomination was a very long term owner of a 246 Dino just prior to the rep.

The car in question was not there for judging in the concour. It was simply there. Everyone knows it's a replica built out of a LHD 308.

Giz, that may be true this year(and perhaps the new rules have helped there), but IIRC it was put up for judging a couple of years ago, and was mistaken by someone on here as genuine (from a photo only, which didn't show any detail) and while club members know what it is, the average punter often doesn't. I suppose having a genuine one parked beside would help clarify that, though...

Thanks Kaz, I thought I remembered something like this from a few years ago which is why I said it was crazy they allow them there.

Obviously the previous 246 ownership carried some weight with the owner.

Yeah, and he is a nice guy and he hand built all metal panels - it isn't an off-the-shelf plastic body kit. When I asked him 'why?' he said that for him Ferrari was all about the look, and he just loves the F40 look...can't argue with that opinion even if I don't agree, and I guess since it has a Ferrari engine it's entitled to a Ferrari badge. There's also nothing on it that actually says F40, but I think displaying it with a card which makes clear what it is (a hand-built 'homage') would save a lot of explanation and harrumphing.
