Then why is my late father's (and now mine) Alfa Milano more reliable than my A6 Audi? I am praying Alfa returns to the U.S. market with their new cars.
Second that. I drove one in LA I love it great car, great sound everything. It's amazing. and better looking than the M5, pure italian style vs, bmw style. guess who wons. hehe
Dude, you might want to drive these cars before you start commenting. Oh, you might also want to learn how to drive, too. The all M5s are exceptionally well-handling sedans, for the respective generations.
Googooghoul: Have you driven both cars (Quattroporte and M5)? I have driven the latest QP and my E39 M5. I can not imagine the QP keeping up with my car on a twisty race track ...let alone the new E60 M5 (which I despise in the looks department). I am going to look back in my EVO catalog to find out under what conditions they tested the M5. A track time means absolutely nothing if you don't consider the weather conditions on a different day. Even so a QP is a fantastic car....I personally love it. What I don't care for is your demeaning attitude towards things you have no clue about. I couldn't care less that you drive a 550 with a Fiorano handling package.... it doesn't make you the end-all-be-all judge of handling. Tom
Mind you, what do you drive, a bike ? I have experience in GT cars, in fast cars, i drove the QP, i drove the (old generation) M5 etc etc, what about you ? Come on. BMs' are crap for salesman that sleep at Hilton's.
BMs' are real just carrots that you stick in the A$$ of salesmen. These cars are mostly ****, well not if you compare to class equivalent, but they're bland, get older faster than your kids, look dull, and you look like a red light district boss after one year driving one around. They have as much class as Paris Hilton
Well, I wager you that the market will disagree. My e39 M5 cost me a little more than $69K in 2000. The new QP cost more that $100K in 2005. By 2010 I bet a 2000 M5 will be worth more than a 2005 QP! How's that for expected depreciation...the market rules!
You may be right, but the QP will always have more style, class and elegance than any BMW, as well as out-handling an M5. The old 5 series is a very nice car and I think will be more desireable than any current I-drive BMW. But then again, just think how many more Bangle BMWs will be running around in 2010....
I believe they made less e39 M5s than they will make QPs. And, remember, BMW made two previous M5s, both with their wonderful looking and sounding straight 6. I agree though that the QPs Italian flare looks better than the Teutonic looks of the M5. But, there is beauty in a purposeful/functional design like all BMWs offer.
LMAO-My wife's reaction to the new 5 series was "Why did the make a beautiful car ugly?" Ouch! Just in case you think I hate BMWs, I would take an older 740i with a sport package or a 530i with a sport package in a heartbeat. The current automotive products coming out of Germany don't excite me, with the possible exception of a 997, but I'll limit it to 4 doors. Buddy of mine leased a C-Class Benz and he is a friend of the service manager;this dealership handles both MB and BMW. He flat out says that the C-Class is the best product Benz builds right now.
Maybe gougols point is valid in his contry.it mite be that bmw are perceived differently in europe, one of the reasons they are so worshipped here is that we compare them to toyotas abd buicks, your average european car will run circles around either car. the new and old m5 are fabulous cars, i think the QP deserves merit, considering it isnt an extreme sedan like the M5 but can hang with it. The engine placement favours turn in and handling, maybe thats why its lightning quick through the bends. sometimes lap times are hard to believe, the autodelta 147 GTA lapped quicker around a track than the Mitsu EVo, STI and M3 with the same driver under equal conditions, and thats a highly moded fwd car.
From your comments it is obvious that your are a juvenile, if not in age- in auto knowledge. BMWs are and have been world class leaders in performance sedans since the 2002. No one has said that they dislike the QP...in fact, most comments indicate that everyone thinks they're great cars...I know I do...just not faster than an M5! I have owned two M5s, an M3 and a 740iL and have been well pleased by them all. In fact, my record time around Road Atlanta is in my old M3 which is a good 5 seconds faster than any of the 6 Ferraris, 2 Porsches, a Corvette and a Viper I have owned and tracked there; likely by the ease it is to drive a BMW M car fast rather than by their outright speed . As far as Europes perception of BMWS, who cares...after all, they have those "great" brands such as Fiats, Peugeots, Opels, Citroens and the like that we don't have...LOL,
I am not surprised at all that the Q-Porte was faster. I cannot believe all of the flack I got when I created this post; http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=61770
