Thanks for the compliment! I took these for a feauture in the swedish Maserati club magazine that I wrote, not yet published. The car was originally sold in Saudi Arabia to a prince with a very long name. From what I have found out the light interior was offered only to the arab market. It makes sense if you think about temperature there. A swedish guy working there at the time bought it from the prince after 3 years in 1987 with 36000 km on the clock. I got it after 34 years of ownership as the third owner in completely original condition with 71000km on the clock. Even the paint is original except the passenger front door which was repainted during the prince's ownership.

Beautiful car, and yes you are correct the lighter leather interior was offered in the Arab/Middle Eastern market, everywhere else was "cognac" interior as delivered.

I did notice that one of the major US parts vendors has after market springs they designed, the few times I've seen them used (including on my car before I replaced them) they tended to keep the front of the car a bit higher than level, giving it an odd look. It may be they've fixed it since then, or perhaps it was only on some cars it ended up that way. They were extra heavy duty and stronger than the originals as I recall. OEMs will probably give the correct stance, but won't last as long. As you're certainly aware, the car is quite front-heavy.

There was a Öhlins custom alternative offered by Aurok in the UK, originally commissioned by William Abraham (he's on this list, or was), I believe the first test pair ended up on my car and were brilliant, but I don't know if they are still making them or available anywhere. Might not hurt to ask around and see.

    Hi,
Attached are pictures of my Master Brake Cylinder. MIE has sent me a replacement but it doesn't exactly match the one I've removed. The original has a sleeve that goes into the booster and over the pin but the replacement (which came with a pin in that plastic bag) does not. It also has a large hex head at the other end.

I'm waiting for MIE's reply, but I thought maybe someone else here might be able to give me some advise.

My 4Porte is a 1979 Euro version 5 speed if that matters.

    Thanks,
    Tony

Ive just aquired an 86 QP III and got her home xmas eve.....in nice condition in/out (metallic dark grey).....she ran like crap so trailered her back. Found out the fuel pump (facet) runs but doesnt pump so new one on order along with all new fuel hoses/clamps/filters, backflow valve and in line fuel gauge, tank also drained. She has an MSD ignition fitted but Ive also ordered new dist cap/rotor. Battery connections and fuses all cleaned up ready for pump install. This one only has the single pump? Lets see how she runs with new pump. Apparently this car has had approx $30k+/- spent on her since 2012 according to receipts. I also may need some cosmetic parts.....anybody parting one?

REAR SCREEN FOR THE QUATTROPORTE III, POSSIBLE SMALL PRODUCTION BY SICURVETRO

Dears, as I need to replace the rear screen on my QPIII, I contacted SICRUVETRO (Mr Antti Wihanto) in Finland which specialises in the production of Ferrari and Maserati screens.

The rear screen for the QPIII has not be remanufactured yet by SICURVETRO. A small production of 10 is possible and would make this operation economically viable at aprox EUR 900/1000 per screen on a basis of 10.

The reproduction will be with the correct (thin vertical stripes) heating element and very light green tint.

Is there any interest here for a rear screen, so that we can join forces and get 5 or 10 made ?

Those screens typically get witheish around the edges and corners as humidity finds its way inside the layers.

We will also need a screen shipped to Finland to take the mould.

Anyone in Sweden or in the Scandinavian area willing to replace their ageing rear screen who could ship the old screen to Sicurvetro ?
Thank you for your interest and your replies !

    Kind regards

    Alex

Why is it that if a QP3 appears in a movie it is usually the bad guys driving it? :)

    Hi,
Has anyone done valve adjustment on a Euro QPIII?
Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated. Is there a kit of assorted shims, or does one do the measurements and order accordingly?

    Thanks in Advance!

Be prepared to grind some of your replacement shims yourself to achieve the proper results. Not huge amounts though. It's a little time consuming but not that difficult.

Is there a kit of shims to buy, or do I measure first and then order each shim separately?

Measure first (in mm) and then order each shim separately.
    Call Jeff @MIE.

If they cant help w/specific shims come back here.

    Hello all,
I was wondering if I could get some advice. i have an 83 Euro Q4 that I am refurbishing. The shocks of course need to be replaced and I have read the forum about the QA1 front replacement with the Unobtanium bushings. But, I was wondering about the rear shocks..can you use the same QA1 shocks and springs that are recommended for the front on the rear or is it best to use new OEM?
Thanks for anyone that has knowledge or experience with this problem!

    Don

Hello Don, thanks for asking. It was a great project and a major improvement.

I was also planning to do the rear shocks but lack of time and the fact they were in a better condition than the front ones prevented me from doing so. In theory it should be possible to use QA1 shocks as well but the spring rate would be different due to differences in geometry and setting (two shocks vs single shock).

Let me look into my files and see if there are some measurements I can share.

One aspect I didn't fully sort out yet is the bushings on top vs. bottom. It is unclear from the parts diagram what the inner diameter is and I suspect it is not the same for the top of the shock and the bottom. This may mean you can only use Unobtainium parts only for top or bottom, I cannot remember exactly.

It would require removing one of the shocks and measuring to be sure. Didn't have time to do that either, but if anyone is interested in doing it, that would be very useful.

I would personally not go with new OEM. They are weak and overpriced.
