    Hey Guys,

i´m lookn forward to trade my porsche 996 for an usefuller car. I really do need to focus on my business which I started 2 years ago and don´t like to mess up in cause of keeping more than 2 cars...
I live (more or less) in beauthyful Germany, Düsseldorf. Also I have an appartment in Madrid where I work right now. I ve got a company car down here in Spain and there is no need for a replacement or addition, yet.

    Anyway,
I love the idea of having a 4 door car which I can use for almost all purpose but as a matter of fact it's an racecar. I am looking forward to spend 70k EUR. (100k $)

Therefor I have some question at the owners of a 4p:

    - was there a facelift or something in 2006?

    - is there any issue of the car where I have to look for?

    - talkn about the costs, is it way more expensive than a 996?

I do like the color combination grey outside and tan inside. I could die seeing it, hehe.

Attached I present a picture of a car which I will visit if I find the time for.

    regards,
    Chris

That is what my wife wants to get next. Sweet car, I think you will love it. Probably somewhat higher maintenance than the Porsche, but not more than around $4k per year is my guess.

Where are those photos from? I see Caddy and SUV?
Get the QP you won't regret it. Won't be much more than 996 to maintain (I've had 996s....and they can cost a lot to maintain too).

The cool part of it all is that you be able to beat your old 996 'round the 'ring in the Q.P. and take three friends with you!

The 996 has 4 seats... assuming the passengers in the back don't have legs. :D

very true. In the QP you could have three or four "guests" back to your place and not have to figure out a way to explain to your friends why only one of them has legs!

get the new one with the much improved gearbox from 2007. the older gearbox is problematic from experience. but if you want piece of mind forget about the quattroporte and get a fast mercedes (e55) or bmw (m5). the quattroporte will start rattling a year later because the build quality is crap. its great when new but doesnt age well. and i'm talking from experience. good luck.

    Well thanks for that.
but I do hate all that mercedes, audi and bmw crab. I am living in Germany, we are swammed by them. First they look pretty. 4 years later they look like a usuall sedan and your money is blown... quality whise, the mercedes E class is a mess as well.

4porte looks to my like kind of an exotic car with a hell of a machine and sound. I don't like the ZF gearbox as well, talking from experience in my 996. It is so unsporty...

Is there an alternative out there?

4 doors, fast - non turbo and rare as well?

    talking about relaibility,
10k miles a year? Is that to much for the F1 gear box?

    saludos from madrid
    Christoph

The E class quality problems have been fixed.
If you are adament about the quattroporte buy a 2007 model with the new gearbox. i changed 3 gearboxes in 1 year in a 2006 model.

A good friend of mine bought a 2007 with the improved gearbox and he absolutely loves it, although here in America your average Joe confuses it with a Buick, but in Europe your car will be admired. My wife wants one too, so I might trade in my E500 on one.
