Not from Hachette and very high quality and expensive models but in 1/24th scale. I am really interested in the ISO Grifo he is doing in 1/24th scale for the Grifo club. I have a few of his 1/24th models and they are lovely.

I was looking at the Grifo yesterday, does look very nice. Pricing is odd though, some at $249/$349 and $449.
Doesn't seem to be much difference in the models though?

Generally with ALL of their models, there is no difference at all between any of the editions except for colors, and quantity of each that are, or will be produced. But... with this one, maybe one or two versions will have wire wheels or the other way around with cast wheels. Who knows since the information on their site is lacking. Count on one thing though, the fewer they make of a particular color, then the higher the price always is.

Here is the latest addition to my (selected) Hachette 1/24 WRC collection: Audi Quattro Sport S1 (E2), winner of the 1985 San Remo Rally with Walter Röhrl at the controls - the ultimate Group B monster (ca. 530 hp) in its latest evolution: this was its only win, it took also 2 further podiums: 2nd in Sweden 1985 (Stig Blomqvist) and 3rd in Monte Carlo 1986 (Hannu Mikkola) - very nice model (dimensions almost exactly the same as with the Beemax kit), correct details, BUT: as already with the Rothmans Escort, the tobacco decals again are missing and have to be bought from the aftermarket (Renaissance, DMC, Reiji etc.) - the brochure that comes with this model, of course shows the HB decals.

Looks very nice. Mine is on the way from Italy. I think the F1 1/24th series has finally equaled the rally series on detail. With every car they keep getting better. I love Hachette.

I was talking to him today at a local Fuelfed car show and told him I prefer the cast wheels on the Grifo in other colors. We will see if he adds them. I bought a 1/24th scale 1929 L29 Cord coupe from a company called Esval and it is very nice. Have you ever seen this brand before Marshall? Looks like they have made mainly 1/43rd and 1/18th for a few years. It says 300 produced and he carries the brand now. Also the Allante looks fantastic in pearl white.

Tom, yes I know Esval, they've sent me various models for review. They have been around for several years now. They seem to make very nice models, a lot of value for very low prices. They primarily make 1:43rd models. As far as larger scales, they have not made much at all. So far two cars in 1:24 - 1928 Cadillac Town car and 1929 Cord coupe, and two in 1:18 - Duesenberg, multiple variations of it, and a Hispano-Suiza couple of versions. Both of the 1:18 models are copies of the same cars The Franklin Mint made years ago in 1:24 scale.

Two more Hachette 1/24th F1 photos. These look better in real life, atleast as good as the old Fujimi and Hasegawa 1/24th kits and much better than the Revell and Protar kits. Wave and Rosso are the only ones with better quality 1/24th F1 models. Hachette seems to really know what they are doing.

The Esval Cord L29 is sort of like the old 1/16th Danbury Mint model only better. Having it a closed display model helps. The paintwork is very good as are the rest of the details. Sort of like the old MR/BBR style resin models, not like a diecast. Almost as nice as Automodello. I saw them for $200.00-$250.00 wich is a bargain for this quality.

Yes I agree, very good quality overall, and I will say that overall I think they are finished better than most Automodello pieces, and lower - more correctly priced as well.

I have caught up and have all the 1/24th Hachette F1 cars released so far. The BT46B is the best followed closely by the Lotus 79. Both are as good as the old resin Wave kits and much better than Studio 27. Diecast(mainly painted plastic actually) or not these are top quality models that have almost perfect paint and decals and can be modified into great quality curbside models with some minor reworking.

The newest addition to my slowly growing WRC collection is the 1980 Tour de Corse – winning Porsche 911 SC, driven by the late Jean-Luc Thèrier, the most spectacular driver of the Alpine-Renault A 110 between 1970 and 73. This was his last WRC win and also the last one for Porsche in this kind of competition.

The French Almeras brothers had a Porsche dealership and founded their racing team in 1971, tuned, developed and restored Porsches and participated in hill climbs, rallies and sports car racing – biggest success was the 1978 Rally Monte Carlo win (Jean-Pierre Nicolas) and 1980 Tour de Corse which is our model:

Very well executed – the huge light-pod + 4 additional lights are correct as are the different rear-view mirrors – here are the pics - at first the original (Photo from the internet)

F2 car wins an F1 race :). My TDF 1980 911 is on the way. As Marshall said, quality is unreal for the price. I guess you could say these are subsidized partly by the news stands but even if you compare them to Spark these are better, and they are 1/24th not 1/43rd for the same price minus subsidies. I somebody at Hachette trying to make a point?? Please keep making your point Hachette :) :)

Sorry, my mistake: I looked under "Formula 1 collection" and not under "Formula Uno Scala 1/24" (there seem to be far more than 200 models)...

My latest acquisition: 1970 Opel Rallye Kadett 1,9 from the German Hachette Opel collection: very fine details, is a good base for a rally car, which has been used very much in 1970/71 and later from semi-professionals and true amateurs who were aiming at class wins. In Sweden and France there were dealer teams with a certain amount of works support: Original photos show the 1971 Sweden rally (red car) and a restored car today in the snow (from auto, motor und sport website).
