    Hello fellow "F"-chatters,

I finally aquired an O.E. battery hold down plate for my 79 308GTB, I can't figure out how if fits. Can anyone tell the optimal position this thing should in in?There are two tabs that stick out of the side of it, where in relation to the battery should those be in? Tabs point rear/front of car, upside-up or down?

    Thanks guys,

    Chris.

It sandwiches the battery at the base ridge of the case, so angled tabs to the rear, IIRC, bent upwards to meet the battery shape....the flat part rides the top of the frame rail...

    Right guys?

Can I ask where you got it and about how much? I need one too for a red top Optima. Does anyone know if they will work with this? By the way mine is a 79 GTB if it makes a difference. THanks Bob

They work on the Optima in my '78 GTS. I think that modern batteries have the same lip arrangement for holding it down at the base.

    I got my hold-down from a 79 308GTS parts car.

Call "Lee" at T. Rutlands, he has a few from a convesation I had with him recently.

The SPC "Page 43 Electric Generating System" illustration for a 1980 308 GTB at www.eurospares.co.uk shows the proper orientation for the battery toe-clamp.
