    How do you extract a "partial quote" from a post vs. the whole post "quote."

    Make sense?

    you hit quote. CTRL+A, CTRL+C (to hold in the buffer on your pc). edit as you wish. Paste it again after you have commented and edit some more.

    Quote the entire thing, and then delete the parts you don't want reposted.

    I am surprised (okay, not really) at the flippant answers. Here's what I do.

    In the window provided by Fchat to respond, I copy the opening and closing quote marker and pste multiple pairs of these--the numer of partial quotes that I want. I will try an expreiment here by using yours with amperasands so that the Fchat program does not act on these as if they were your opening quotes. Maybe it won't work. Any ways, between these PAIRS of opening/closing quotes, I write my responses (then duck for cover).

    Here's for trial and error efforts to illustrate the point:

    &&
    &&

    ""

    then ....

    "&&
    (my stuff)

    (my stuff)

    (my stuff)"&&

    In real use, you would of course not have " or &

    If this illustration does not work--if FChat filters as if my quote marks or amperasans were not there--well, I am out of time. Here goes ....
