I know there is a lot of recent discussions and actual sale data about 308's recently but I have a car that has been in my possession for several years and it needs to be sold. It is a 1979 (very late) carb 308 GTB, Light blue with tan interior and about 88,000 miles. It is in very nice condition and has a recent major service completed including carbs, brakes and distributors overhauled. No rust, mostly original, (repro 15" wheels and minor body damage repair in early 2000's etc.) it runs strong and no smoke. The owner wants to sell it and I need to move it out of my aircraft hangar because there are too many car projects in there.

My Question: Generally what is a range of realistic asking price for this car? I am saying RANGE because I know there are lots of variables. I've owned Ferraris for over 20 years and I understand. The owner is trying to get an idea only of the price so I thought I would throw it out on F Chat. Thanks in advance for any good replies. GO.

I would say one of the values I try to instill in my Ferrari is...honesty...and do not covet thy neighbors wife :)

I would say 50 to 70 range but in this current market 50 would be an absolute bottom.

It's hard to say without looking at the car. But $50K is a reasonable starting guess given the body repairs (how minor?), higher mileage, etc.

It would also help to know if the original smog equipment in place so that it could be sold into California or other states that require it to be tested.

The color sounds great. I think the "resale red" effect still holds, but maybe/hopefully not as much as it did.

Yes all of the original smog equipment is in place including the air pump which has the belt disconnected. It is free and turns but the mechanic who did the work said if the pump freezes up, it causes big problems. But short answer is all is there even the twin points set up / micro switches etc. The damage was very minor and was the rear corner as I recall. The owner has a book with lots of photos of the repairs and restoration process as documentation.

Post some photos and we can better assess it's value. It sounds like a $60-70k car to me, but if it's really nice it could be more.

I'm with Rob. My '77 GTB is a ground up restoration and I think it's worth $100+ with 64,000 before the resto.

With my 77 gtb nuts/bolts/clips restoration, I will take a penny less than $200,000.01.

When we have the go ahead to sell it, via the owner, and a price, it will go up for sale. Pic's will be posted as soon as I have time to take them.

Thanks everyone for the "serious" and the "not so serious" replies!

    You guys are great! GO.
