My 550 has Tubi canisters in the rear and I'm thinking about installing an
X-pipe middle section (eliminating the center resonator).

The system that I'm considering buying is from Hughes Supercar Service in Australia (FerrariFixer - Phil on FChat).

He sells it in either a straight pipe version, or one with silencers built in. I really these, because they are ceramic coated, inside and out.

Is anyone running either of these units on their 550s?? Comments?

I installed a Stebro X-pipe on my 550. I loved it. You can't go wrong!

What does he charge for the x-pipe. I might pick one up for my 456. Is he in Sydney?

The straight pipe version is about $1,100 (including delivery to the USA).

    He's in Braeside.

Did you have the tubi before you did the x pipe? I have the x-ost, and it's loud but not nearly like the high pitch of my 355. It must either be the cats or this long pipe. It's very deep though. It sets of car alarms everywhere I go.

Looks pretty good, does anyone know the size of the tubing?

    Mark,

Are you asking me the question, or the other guys? I have a Tubi exhaust with a stock center resonator.

This is getting a bit silly..... I just want feedback from people who actually HAVE an x-pipe on their 550. I'm not asking about 456s or anything else..

Who cares about the tubing size? I'm sure it's more than adequate.

Do you have an X-pipe on a 550?? I am looking for feedback about that subject.

Do you even own a car?

I'm getting sick of these lame replies.

    Sorry about my frustration.....

It is unfortunate a simple question caused you such grief, my sincere apologies.

I am not certain a 12 cylinder really needs an x-pipe for other than sound reasons. From the looks of it, I think it serves a valid purpose and is worth installing.

Yes, I have had several mid-engined models and in my older age am considering a front engine.

Sorry, no I was asking oss117 since he said he had both. The 456 has a 550 engine which is why I was asking. They both have a center pipe.

I have also heard a lot of bad things about Stebro. I installed the x-pipe for $880 on my old 550 and it was fantastic. No problems.

    No, it is not.
In fact, I had installed a pair of Stebro tail mufflers for a short while but went back to the Tubi as the Stebro were disturbingly loud at idle and at low rpm but made no difference up at high rpm.

OK, thanks for the insights and sorry about my earlier nasty rants (late night and a few glasses of wine...)

I'm probably going to buy the straight pipe version X-pipe.

Sorry Mark, but I wasn't sure you were asking me.
Yes, the Tubi was there first and the sound was nothing to write home about.
Then I decided to try the Stebro X pipe and remove the center muffler.
It proved very effective: the sound is a bit louder at idle, without being annoying, but above 4,000 rpm it turns into a wail that is tipycal 12 cylinders.
I would also say that, by the seat of the pants, performance has improved as well.

I will also add that I had a few dealings with Stebro and never had anything to complain about.

I have a pair of Stebro tail mufflers that I am selling, as the combination of Stebro X pipe and Stebro tail mufflers was too loud for me (basically it was straight pipes all the way through).
I would let them go for $ 1,500.00 if anyone is interested.
I have used them for one week.
