I noticed that on same dates :

    Paris - Chicago = +/- 600$
    Chicago - Paris = +/- 1300 $

    Why ???

we used to see this a lot when I was doing work overseas. Vancouver->Seoul round-trip was 50% or more than Seoul->Vancouver round-tirp for the same seat. With lots of people travelling, tickets were purchased in Seoul in blocks and allocated as needed. Why not?

Same for Canada->US is often more expensive than US->Canada.

Your spread seems high - but I'm not surprised at all. Pricing variations for flights is bizarre. I worked in the industry back in the 90's and the software used to optimize seat pricing and overselling factors was a black art with a room full of high-end workstations chugging away 7x24.

Well, the case you mention is not surprising at all.
Basically, the less seats you have, the higher the booking class gets.

Hence, if many people booked ex US, it will be more expensive.
Also, the rates depend on the purchase power.

I'd rather try to learn brain surgery in the dark than understand airline ticket pricing.

The most expensive tickets I usually purchase are YYC-GIG at about $1,200 USD.......now do that in trip in reverse and it is about $3,000 USD. It is almost 3 times the price coming out of Brasil, where the minimum wage is about $150 USD per month....versus Canada where it is about $900.

    Andrew,
How often do you travel between these cities? Looks like you spilt your time between them.

Amenasce, how did the booking work out? I got to thinking, do you use the same airline? The class ticket you purchase, current booking % on those flights, time, date, airline, and a bunch of other factors play a role.
