Ok I have all of the screws out, my last issue is the door lock knob. Does it unscrew or how do you remove it so the door panel can be pulled up? I'm pulling the door panel because the little red light in the end of the door broke. Any ideas where to get a new one? Also I'd like to pull out the window motor to clean and lube it but it looks like a pretty difficult job , any thoughts on this. Thanks.

    Hi

First off you dont need to remove door panel to replace red door light!

Im not sure we are talking 400/412 series cars here. On the 400 series the door lock is part of the release handle for the door and is like a 'sea saw' of levers so when flush the door is locked.

To remove the part holding the panel - slide the chrome surround backwards to clip out. This then releases the door panel. The lever and locking mechanism are bolted to the metal door and do not need to come off.

Make sure you have all the long bolts out of the arm rest door pull, speaker surround and check for any small screws used around the edge to keep the panel flush.

Thge little red light can be bought from eurocarparts in the UK cheaply.

I have pulled out my window motor on mine. Preparation is the key and accepting that it will take time. Make sure you do a diagram of the way the cables go around and take pictures and ensure that you know the starting point of the window level to the wind of cable in the motor.

    Hope this helps

Mine is a 365 gt4. When the plastic broke the bulb fell into the door. My knob to lock the door is black and located at the top rear of the door. The top of the knob is bigger than the opening in the panel and that keeps the panel from moving up more than an inch or so. I need to remove the black knob to pull the door panel up.

Thanks for the links, I'll have to give it a try. Looks time consuming but doable.
