    say I bought a euro spec 360 ECU and install it on a US-spec 360 car.
    then I install a non-precat header to the US-spec car, isn't that going to solve the engine light issue for good?

    What engine trouble code do you have? Swapping an ecu and headers may cost you far more then just fixing the problem in the first place.

    I have a wrecked 2003 modena, euro version
    and a US-version good 2003 modena,

    that's why I am thinking of replacing the US-version header with a Euro version header

    about the ECU number: is it printed on the ECU? i'll have to look that up

    You would need to pair the motronic ECUs with the alarm and transmission ECUs as well. A similar project was undertaken by another on the forum to replace alarm ECUs in a euro spec vehicle with those from a US vehicle. I believe there was a CEL issue in the end.
