Just wanted to see if anybody has this kit installed. (scroll down to the "red silicone air intake hoses") https://www.fabspeed.com/ferrari_355.html The part I'm really curious about is the removal of what Fabspeed calls the "intake muffler." The kit supplies a small, circular plastic piece that plugs up the hole left once this muffler is removed. They claim that "Fabspeeds Maxflo kit eliminates the F355 intake muffler which is unnecessary and adds more sports car sound." Before and After with kit: notice the intake muffler to the left of the air intake has been removed. https://www.fabspeed.com/ferrari355_7.html I guess my question is does anybody know if this is effective? Also, what is actual purpose of that "intake muffler?" Ricambi calls is a "Duct." (part number 40. see below) Ferrari Parts, Ferrari Accessories, and Ferrari Performance Products - Ricambi America, Inc. Note: I am NOT interested in this kit, rather, what that muffler is for and if it would be beneficial to remove the muffler myself and plug up the hole with my own circular piece.
Just buy the plug from Ricambi directly! If anything, it's worth it just to clean up and simplify the engine bay. Ferrari Parts : GS355RDC52 : GS355RDC52 Resonator Delete Cap
Wow good find! And only $35? Seems like a good buy. Any idea what that resonator does though? Surely Ferrari wouldn't put it on only to reduce noise..? If its an important part I don't know if I'd want to remove it, and I haven't heard of anybody else doing this. Think this is something you would do to your car, Jung? Or anybody for that matter. Always enjoy hearing others' thoughts.
I plugged mine and never knew of this part I made my own plug. Took me an hour to make so this would have been more cost effective to make. Its just a harmonic resonator to cut the intake noise to pass EPA sound regulations, just about every car on the road has one in one way or another. It offer no performance enhancements.
