I'm looking for some nice wheels to stash in Buenos Aires

Not too flashy, not too Pricey, Not too exotic .

So I found a 1989 M6 for $25k US, nice car. But I've heard the straight 6 is rather exotic. How expensive are parts and how difficult to find ?

    Thanks

Most every imported car down there costs about 2x as much as here

    I also found a 1990 Corvette for "only" $20k

the there was a nice ZR1 for $37k that seems almost reasonable but may be too flashy although I'd love to wave the US flag down there :)

What a great car this is. The balance is supurb, the handling is great expecially with newer updated wheels and tires but for not go above 17". I had a 60K miles 1988 M6 and I should have never sold it, my father has a 1987 M6 and both of us love these things. Parts are very reasonable and there is a ton of info out there. First try www.roadfly.com and go the the forums. My call sign is Hplug as it is here, my dad is Sooner. PM and I can load you up with more info than you will know what to do with.

William, what's the scoop with importing cars to Argentina? Not permissible? Import duties?

importing cars is a pain & lots of $$.

Much easier to just buy a car thats already there although cool stuff is rare & pricey.

1 law is that a car must either be brand new or pre 1974 to be allowed in & get ready for some serious tax. Also it would help to just order from a dealer down there who can import anything for you, for a fee

Stay away from the 840/850 if you are looking at the M6. The I-6 engine produces great torque and the individual injector throttle plates open for a great sound. I especially like the ball bearing throttle linkage. The M6 should do you well. Just routine maintenance should keep you going. Just be a little careful with the clutch. If there is a weaker spot, that is it........

Thanks, William. I'm looking forward to travelling through Argentina, I keep hearing good things about the country.
