Road Atlanta - Spectator Hill is fantastic and you can get right at the back of the pits! Road America - Canada Corner is great as is Turn 5. We were with the Audi group this year at Sebring - fantastic location, etc. We walked the course again and Turn 10 is a good photo spot - very close to the cars there if you are at the fence. Carol
LoL...well, **** happens i guess. btws, the circuit in the game isn't so punishing as the one in real life. there's more banked curves, especially the part of the lap, i think somewhere near the Porsche corner.
I dont mean to hikack the thread, but how is viewing the ALMS at Road America? Is there any tips for best seats or anything I should know...I was planning on attending this fall. Thanks. Mark
Good morning Mark - Unlike other race venues, you DO NOT want to be in a seat for an ALMS race (perhaps a couple exceptions). The ability to walk the track, be in the paddock, be right behind the pits during the race, be on the grid just prior to start is all part of the fun of ALMS. Race is 9 August starting at 3 pm CDT and goes for 4 hours. Tickets are $20 for Friday; $55 for Saturday (entrance/paddock all times prices prior to 7-30-08); parking (if you want to be near the tunnel) is $25. There's a fair amount of elevation change there with lots of good viewing. We were with the Audi group just past turn 5 and had our own little stand, etc. The Carousel is great, part of the track is very much like the Mulsanne Straight, Canada Corner is where we spent qualifying. Turn 6 and 7 will put you pretty high where you can look down on the carousel. They won't let you into the winner's circle area unless you have credentials but you can get right up to the fence. "Anything you should know??" . . . wear comfortable shoes! FYI, we parked at RP1. Here's the track map: http://www.roadamerica.com/images/information_maps/map_08_main.pdf Hope this helps. Carol
1) Outside the corner and behind the flag station, Turn 1 Sebring. The commitment of the drivers around this blind and horrifically fast corner is unreal. New respect for Marco. 2) Spectator Hill, inside the track up high overlooking exit of T3 through the Esses up through T5 Road Atlanta. The cascade of cars through the esses, especially at the start, is awesome. 3) Spectator Hill, inside the track and overlooking Big Bend, the Lefthander and the right onto No Name Straight at Lime Rock. Awesome racing and one of the few passing areas on that track. 4) Turn 5 at the fence behind the worker station, grandstand drivers left after Turn 7 and outside Canada Corner (T12) at Road America, great places to watch. 5) Overlooking Madness (T6-8) Mid-Ohio. Cars and drivers going through remarkable gyrations. Driver skill makes a huge difference in this part of the track.
I highly recommend reading the posts from Kram in this Le Mans thread.. http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=86899 start at post 4 and then read 16 and 45.
Thanks Carol, much appreciated. I have run my car at the track so I am familiar with it, but I haven't ever attended a race there. Mark
Long time no talk, Andy! I would HIGHLY suggest going to an ALMS race if you can this year. Better racing than F1 IMO.
Just been reading this and thought I would do a wee boast. Going to Le Mans this year with 328GTB and getting to drive parade laps of the whole circuit on the Saturday morning. Will take camera and post photos when I get back
