When my Berlinetta was 'Americanized' they had placed a black rubber strip on the front and rear bumpers. Does anyone know how I could remove these strips without doing damage to the paint? How are they attached? How would it look? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks......

Post a pic of it and well try to photoshop it, i think they use a type of glue to place the black strips on, if you gently heat it with a hairdrier you should be able to take it off slowly.

It's most likely adhered with an adhesive. Let it sit in the warm sun, and then use 3M's adhesive remover. Go slowly.

    Hunter,

Various conversion shops used different methods to Federalize the cars. I would recommend taking it to a good body shop and have them look at removing the strips for you and possibly repainting.

If you want to see photos of a Boxer without the DOT bumpers, lights, etc.
here's a link to my '83 that has been returned to Euro spec.
