Was that your car at the LFSC tent at the Brian Redman last month?? And was that you hanging around the trailer near the food?? Kind of where Mike Epifanio was hanging out with a few other people??

There was a woman hanging out by there. A bunch of guys asking who that was. (actually, they said "Who is the babe??") I wasn't sure if it was you or not and the woman never went by the blue car. I think the license plate said the same thing as the plate in the pics from the last event.

I never got to ask the woman if she was "Carla" as I was busy playing host to my group......

Anyway, long story short........"Were you that woman??"

DISCLAIMER!!! - Due to previous misunderstandings by member(s) of the FChat board, this is in NO way an attempt to pick up Carla. My wife was at the BRIC. She is sitting here on her computer right next to me. No funny stuff.....

Yes, that was me. That was a great event even though it was very hot.
I enjoyed driving my car up there. Thank goodness Ferrari makes great A/C units. I just registered for the Italian Village Car Show/Brunch on Aug 27th, maybe I'll see you there.

P.S. All communications have been cleared through my publicist, FChattter -Daytona Rick. Just kidding.....

I just had to comment on this statement. Are you kidding? I had my Black 328 out a few days ago and i left the top on, windows up, the A/C was running full bore and i was still dieing from the heat! And that was after spending over $3k to get it fixed. I think i need to upgrade to your model now for some nice cool A/C??? LOL! Sorry, just had to comment on that while i am still in over heat mode.... Tod

That's hilarious. Some of the guys were saying "Who is the eye candy??" thinking that LFSC brought you in to hang around. Ha!! I was going to come over and ask if you were "Carla" but I wasn't sure and didn't want to look like a moron. Not to mention, I had a nice sized group with me I was trying to keep busy!!

Yeah, maybe at the next one....... I would like to get down there for another event, but am in the process of moving out to California to work at our world headquarters. Fun stuff.

Got to get the house ready, get it on the market, coordinate the movers, finsh up in my current territory, teach a training class out there in August (what I will be doing for the next 18 months) for a week, fly back, close out my inventory, lock up a contract with a managed care plan I am putting together for my company, do an expense report a mile long, sell my car, buy another, sell my house, buy another, buy a daily driver, organize and run a bachelor party (I am the best man in a wedding the 2nd week of Sept), etc.....

All of that possibly by September 1st.......This is freaking insanity.......

Perhaps off topic, but who does make Ferrari's A/C units?

I work for Modine so I'd be interested in knowing.

We can discuss the specs and details of your car while having a beer (that I still owe you from some sort of old stupid debate) while we enjoy a sea of Ferraris and other exotics in Monterey next week. Hey bring my cap and we can swap stories and get drunk. Hope you don't mind I'll be driving that new Hertz special edition Mustang GT, it's the best I can do with my budget out there.

Like I have ALWAYS said, if you would stop with these trips, you would HAVE a Ferrari by now!!! Then you could sit in your OWN garage and enjoy your OWN car!! That, to me, would make all the sense in the world. Maybe, rather than talking about price over a beer, we can come up with a budget so you can get one.......with the main part of the budget cutting out those trips!!!

I bet this trip is going to run you around $1400. That's 7 months worth or car payments for my car (we have already gone over how I make this happen.......). Then cut out a few other things (like eating and showering on Tuesdays) and you would have your Ferrari. If you got a 308, you could eat every day of the week and just not shower on Tuesdays and Thursdays. No big deal. You could still shower on Friday before your big date AND have money left over to get the large tub of popcorn at the movies. Since you would now own a Ferrari, SHE would take you back to her place (no worries about electricity expenditures at your pad) AND cook you breakfast in the morning.

    It is really pretty simple........

With that being said, it sounds like you would basically want me to "give away" my car to you at a price I just couldn't do. Since I have guys from this very board who sound like they like the price I already have it at, I doubt we'll be making any deal.

Mustang GT huh?? THAT's another issue we could discuss. I will be driving a cruddy rental Impala or whatever is CHEAPEST. If you are renting a car, it might as well be the CHEAPEST one you can rent!! Another way to save money for the Ferrari fund!!

No my yearly trip doesn't cost that much, I mix pleasure with work, since my company is HQ in the Bay area. Actually spending the second week out there for work. I crash at a friend's house so save on lodging and sometimes he provides a toy for me, like a Prowler one year and a NSX another. But alass he and his family is moving out of CA so this will be the last big swing. Hey we are already invited to two Ferrari and one Lambo private events and I get to drive cars for the R&M Auction again this year. Party time for me.

As far as buying yours, no offense, but I could buy a 308/328 but that's not what I'm looking for. I like the more classic lines and I can't afford them yet and I won't buy a car just because of the marque name. I'm not that hard up for finding a lady. However I'll never say no to a good deal so if you really want me to have one then it must be a good deal for me. So we can still talk over a beer or two out there. Don't worry I'll be gettign one sooner or later.
Stay in touch, you got my number for when you get out there. Look me up if you can and maybe we'll hook up. Remember I'll be gentle since it's your first time. I don't want you to get over whelmed your first time out.

    Wow........

    Nice ending creepy......

I know you like the Daytona, but come on, that's like me saying that I like the original Ford GT40s. Every day that you don't buy one, you are getting farther and farther away from getting one, as they are not going DOWN in price.

A friend of mine just bought a Daytona a few weeks ago that needed some work and he paid a HEALTHY amount for it. Healthy. More than I could afford.

I think you need to get yourself into an affordable Ferrari. Like they say, your first Ferrari is your most expensive Ferrari. Get it out of the way, and then look to a more "classic" car......

Actually I think doing these trips makes more sense than having the dream car sitting in your garage. That's at least what I do with my money: Personal experience creates memories that last a lifetime. When your time is up, you might be able to take those with you. You certainly won't be able to take the thing in your garage with you. Not just my 2 cents, but something I actually take quite seriously.

    On the contrary Andreas........

You have a Ferrari. A nice one too. So you get to enjoy the experiences AND drive a Ferrari. Would your experiences be worth as much if you didn't get to take your own out and re-enact those experiences??

I love hearing the F-1 cars and all and seeing vintage Ferraris, but if I never got to go home and drive my own, the experience wouldn't seem as close to the heart.

Not to mention, when you die, you can't take your memories with you either. But you CAN will your Ferrari to your son. And that, to me, would make all the sense in the world. To share those experiences of driving a Ferrari with my son (when I have one) by passing them on, physically, would be QUITE satisfying.......

Getting a little philosophical here, aren't we?

You're right about experiencing the Ferrari. Maybe my point was more towards why not to upgrade the current car, but be happy with what you got and use the saved cash for other experiences.

One of my life's goals is to become a member of the century club. That is more important to me than a better car/house/younameit.

I hear ya. I don't think ANYONE needs to upgrade their Ferrari. I respect the owner of a 308 as much as a 430 owner. Both have a passion for their cars. Both know what it is like to sit in and drive a Ferrari. Both know what it is like to stare at it in their garage.

That's what I am (and have been) saying to Rick. Forget the Daytona that he will probably never get. Not many can afford one and the upkeep that goes with them. Why chase the pipedream when he can get a 308/328/etc and be happier (my guess is that he would be).

    Here is my own example........
It would be as if I attended all of the Lamborghini events all over the country while stating that I love Miuras (I do) and that's what I wanted to get. Even when the odds of me getting one are pretty slim due to them skyrocketing in price every year. I would be farther away this year than I was last year and the year before and year before due to that rise in prices. I will never afford a Miura and if I could, couldn't afford to keep it running. So I buy the Diablo, Countach, Jalpa, or whatever I CAN afford, so I can truly enjoy it.......

I would be better served getting a Jalpa and enjoying Lamborghini, the sounds, the drive, etc. than wasting my time waiting for a Miura to "fall in my lap".

I just want him to buy a dang Ferrari because I KNOW he would be happier for it!!! :)

All good responses, but still the 308/328 isn't my cup of tea for the price. I'll rather have a Group 4 Pantera ( more exotic to me). Each has their own preference. I'll never buy anything just to impress others. So when I buy it, it will be for me alone, for my enjoyment. But I'll never rule them out if I find one for the right price. Recently I bought a motorcycle and taking flying lessons and I won't give either up just for owning a marque name. Yes I could have saved those expenses, and my periodic vacations/trips, but I wanted to experience them also. So be patient my friend I will be enjoying one soon. In the meantime enjoy the great views and weather of Carmel this coming week.

PS: Bill until you experience the thrill of Monterey Weekend you will never know of one of Life's little pleasures. Back in 94? when the FCA also had their national meet, I was lucky to have a gent give me a ride back to my car along the famous 17 mile drive in his Calif Spyder. I videoed the drive and will never forget that. Also last year when my friend surprised me by setting up us driving cars up on the auction block for thr R&M auctions. You got to experience what life offers.

I don't know, Rick.....I absolutely LOVE Pantera's, too. But, just like HuskerBill said....They are not getting any cheaper every day that you wait....They are actually getting more expensive. I just got my August issue of Hemmings Motor News. There are 3 Pantera's For Sale. A '73 with 8500 Miles is going for $35K. (What a "Bargain"....;) ) The other 2 are in the mid $50K range! Just a couple years ago, those were $20K cars all day long...
