Question for gun fans: Gun case fit behind the back seat?

    Dear fellow Fchat gun enthusiasts:
    I recently got into the gun hobby and began shooting at Burro Canyon shooting park in Southern California. It's a beautiful 18 mile drive up the San Gabriel Canyon 39 Angeles National Forest which makes every trip to the outdoor shooting range a pleasurable journey from my home in Arcadia.

    I have a 40" plastic hard shell gun case to store my CZ455 rifle and Glock 17 Pistol. The gun case fits perfectly in the rear trunk of my old Acura NSX. I am thinking about buying a Ferrari F360 /430 or Lamborghini Gallardo/Murcielago in the near future. Would these cars accommodate a gun case in the rear trunk or back seat of the passenger cabin? My next sports car must be able to accommodate two adult passengers and have room to fit a slim 40" gun case. Many thanks in advance

    You're SOL on the trunk. I just measured and its 42 inches diagonally but that is with a tape measure, not a rectangular box. It'll fit behind the seat if it has provision to be locked.

    Being an ex Californian I knew the gun laws pretty well up to the time I left. Different jurisdictions had different interpretations of being secured and locked. Be careful.

    Eh, just get a gun rack and put in the back window. That will keep the boy racers at bay.

    Depends on the width of the case, the 40 " length should not be a problem fitting.
    Between your passengers feet the case would rest on his or her chest. Would not be a comfortable 18 mile ride for the passenger. Behind the seats might work, depending on which speaker system your car has. I have the center sub in my 430 so not really a solid resting place for the case. If your 455 has the interchangeable or removable barrel you might be able to use a smaller case to fit the trunk.

    Had my Benelli in a soft case in back of the seats last night.

    California gun laws. Isn't the purpose of having a gun, personal protection?

    While the 'good guys' have to run to their trunk, unlock the case, load the gun, etc, the 'bad guy' isn't obeying the law and has already shot and robbed you, before you get to the trunk.

    Glad I live in AZ!

    BTW...... The case will fit behind the seats. There isn't a back seat, nor a rear trunk in a 360/430.

    Some cars come with a center speaker box, it will make it impossible to get a case behind the seats. So look out for a car with out the speaker box.
