Have you ever offered a ride to someone who showed genuine interest in your car? :)
of course, all the time...and always at speed! The bravest group of passengers that I have ever encountered are the locals that hang out at the Virginia City Hillclimb that wait at the bottom of the hill with their helmets, waiting for a Ferrari "E" Ticket ride up the hill. I was always happy to give them a story to tell the grandkids!
Are you kidding? F-chat guys and gals are the nicest people I've ever met. I not only have ridden in, but I've driven a 360, 328, and a Testarossa. And I dont own one myself. So the answer is yes.
I donate 'rides' to local fundraisers, not exactly strangers...you know, to and from school, or by all their buddies house, or something..... You have to careful in the Big City about that, they'll leave you dead and take it.....
One of my favorite things to do is give people rides... its the best way to re-experience the thrill of Ferrari... that first ride... listening to their comments... their gasps... their hand clinching the handle. However, I've also seen movies like Wild Things, and don't give rides to strangers unless on a track or in a rally or some other situation with constant witnesses! Sad what the fear of a lawsuit can do. On the track, no worries about being accused of mis-conduct... I'll just offer to take the jurors for a ride on a track. The worry on the track is people losing breakfast or lunch in the car! Hasn't happened to me yet... so far my passengers have been good enough to ask me to pull off. I won't give rides to guys dripping sweat in a grimy tank-top... best to be clean and dry and fully clothed if you want to be offered a ride... and have helmet in-hand if at the track (never want to waste track time waiting for someone to find a helmet).
Many times. From a kid about 9 years old (with mom's very happy approval) to many others. i useta frequent this great butcher shop and the kids there all knew me as it was part of my funfest drive. To make a long story short, gave one of the kids a ride about 2 years ago. Well, yesterday i saw the kid as he works at Staples P/T, needless to say my no receipt exchange went smooth as silk even though company policy is...
Yes. My "best" story, and others in this thread... http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=94648&highlight=f40
Have offered to many people...have only been taken up on it once! I'm more than happy to let people experience Ferrari.
have offered and given many rides in all the cars I've had, from a quick passenger ride to loaning cars to friends for special occasions Most amusing was letting a work experience student drive a 400i (auto) before he'd even passed his driving test!
I've offered rides to people after I know them a little bit. No big deal, a few miles of thrills, and you don't have to push the car too hard to scare / thrill most new Ferrari passengers. A 300 HP go kart ride, lots of fun. BT
This is great! Seriously I'd thought that 99% of the answers would be "no", for fear of... just anything happening. It seems though Fowners are more open than I'd thought...
Yeah. The last time was some kid with his friends at a gas station. He was going crazy and asked for a ride, so we did a quick shot up the street and back.
Not to punch statistical holes in this, but FChat members are probably more likely to give rides than the average Ferrari owner, and a "no" response might get flamed here. FWIW, I gladly give rides to people I know at least somewhat (neighbor, friend of a friend, etc.) There's no way I'd take some random person for a ride. Bill's correct, you don't have to take the car up to 150mph to give a Ferrari virgin a great experience. I took a friend out to lunch in the 328 a couple of weeks back; he drives a Honda Accord every day. We didn't got much above 40-45mph due to traffic, but the look and sound of the car were enough to make his day.
Yes...that's what you do when you own a Ferrari. It's how we dispell the myth that we are a bunch of arrogant rich snobs...
Yeah, I've given rides to a few people, but mostly I let kids sit in the drivers seat when I'm gassing up and once I let an entire family sit behind the wheel outside a restaurant. Lots of fun.
