For you guys who’ve shown at Pebble, did you “unveil” the car at that show after restoration or did you show it elsewhere first? Are there pros or cons of showing it at Amelia or Cavallino before hand?

I have heard that they give more consideration for acceptance to vehicles that have not been shown at other events.

Pebble DOES NOT like you to show the car elsewhere prior to it being at their "show". However this is waived sometimes for favored exhibitors.

From my limited knowledge, it is political.

In my case the car was not finished until just days before the transport truck arrived to take it to PB, so there was no option to having it appear at anther venue. Beside that, springing this car on the world stage at PB seems like the very best way to show it. Strangely enough it was my first time to PB as well. Seems like it turned out fairly well in any case for two first timers.

    Best regards,

    Robert

Ok… sounds like the consensus is show it fresh from its restoration. Trial by fire!

Admiral, incredible result for you and very well deserved. I’ve always been fond of that car and its history with you. It’s something Ferrari owners should aspire to; I certainly do.

If you want to win a top award, make sure you contribute heavily to the Pebble Beach Foundation BEFORE showing your car. Funny how that works!

    Dear Gary,

Funny how I did not punch that ticket, did not even know it was a requirement. Goes to show how a little ignorance can pay off...

    Best regards,

Robert: You are a nice man who was (and still is) well thought of in the hobby, but Gary is 100% correct.

... and it's how a 375MM wins the best of show.
