Hi new member here, this is my first post.

Since we are all busy I will just jump right in with both feet.

I have been a Ferrari fan since I was able to properly pronounce the word Ferrari. As I have gotten older I am now in a position where I may be able to afford one and am quite excited. However I am very confused on the issue of pricing.

I have a friend with about 8 Ferraris, including an Ezno F50 F40. According to him the MSRP of an Enzo was right around 700k. Yet I see them advertsied for over a million. He further informed me that Ferrari forbids its dealers from makring up any new Ferrari above sticker.

Obviously I cannot afford an Enzo, a 360 of 430 is more my budget. The new 430 stickers for around 180, yet i see them advertised for almost 300k, WHAT GIVES???

How are people getting their cars at sticker? The Modena had a price of around 155-165k, how is it that they are still being sold for that price and higher?

I fully understand supply and demand and the free market economy. I also understand that "dude it's a Ferrari" (I am from California), but I just don't want to get taken for a ride if I buy one.

I am very confused as to Ferrari pricing if somone could take the time and help me understand it I would appreciate it.

Search Fchat, been covered 13 different ways.

But it comes down to this:

low supply + high demand = high price

    i totally understand that.

But if that is the case Ferrari is loosing MILLIONS every year in allowing people to buy the cars, drive them for 500 miles and sell them at a profit, I do not understand how this takes place, did everyone here pay that much over sticker for a used Ferrari???

if so how can i get one new??

Your gonna pay what the market demands...taht's the way it works.
I'm also calling you out on your friend with 8 Ferrari's. I call utter BS on that. Provide details or accept that you have been shut down as a liar.

Sheesh, what a wonderful welcome to a new subscriber....NOT!

What's so unusual about having 8 Ferraris?

I have close to that myself, and I also have a friend that has 14.

    It's really no big deal.

A newbie like yourself shouldn't be making comments like that!

Now go a-head.......make your apology! :)

The way I understand it is that the dealer has to sell a NEW car for sticker. The only way to get a new car is to get on a waiting list somewhere. Many people get their car for list, and turn around and sell it back to the dealer and make a healthy profit. The dealer then sells it to someone who doesn't want to wait, and they make a profit. The car is now technically used. Ask me how I know! I bought a '00 360 Modena F1 with 300 miles in 2000 for over sticker because I am impatient. The car was practically brand new, but I was the 2nd owner.

Of course, I might not understand this correctly... :) And welcome to Fchat.

i can give u pics of me sitting in the Enzo the f50 f40, as well as a few lambos in the warehouse where he stores his cars.

but that doesnt prove anything now does it, a person like u will say ohh thas not u or say ohh photoshop job or this is a dealership and you are a car wash attendant. I do not need to justify myself to some tool on the net. I will say this if I am lying I am a tool who used his first post on a Ferrari board to embarass himself. You can take that for what its worth and pound sand

Ok that makes sense, why does Ferrari allow this to happen, this would lead to a bunch of speculators going out and doing this at all dealers and Ferrari would be loosing a ton of dough.

also congrats on the Modena it has been a dream since they first came out

Your confusion stems from the fact that there is a population out there of Ferrari fans who don't care about depriciation! The "newest" Ferrari is only available at sticker from a dealer and to get one you have to be an established customer. Those people can then resell it at way over sticker to one of these fans who are not yet on the list but all of a sudden want the new model.

They will drive it (or polish it) for a year or two, lose a few hundred K $ in the process, and sell it for way under sticker because they are now yesterday's news. I would think these people get on the "list" eventually but are then replaced by others.

a ferrari delership does not "have to" sell a new car at sticker. They will, to previously loyal customers but may if they choose sell part of their new car allotment at "market"price.

ok so i gotta pay my dues so to speak.

What should I be looking to pay for a 02-03 Modean or how much over sticker should I be expected to pay for a 430? Finally would a 355 be a better choice as a first Ferrari. The most "exotic" (in terms of performance) car's I have owned were my 2 Corvette Z06's one stock and one failry modified (heads, cam ect). What would be a good to break myself in to the Ferrari ownership experince.

modena wish it seems like your buddy with a multitude of F-cars would be in a good position to explain the means and methods of buying new F-cars. there is such a varitey of people on this site with various cars including but certainly not limited to f-cars sometimes its hard to get a straight answer. good luck on you search for you f-car.

I'd buy a 1999 355. I love mine and it did not cost anywhere near what a 430 will cost you.

Plus my 3 is 8. All is right in the world...

Still, check some of the threads covering this topic. Its one of the first "new to the Ferrari world" questions that come up.

Save some money, buy an older car to get your feet wet.

And still, my_adidas hasn't made an apology.

I think that he/she may be the REAL loser!

By the way, I have 6 F-cars and a few others.

Right now, we have 3 people owning about 14 F-cars all together.

    What say ye, my_adidas?

    Interlopers really piss me off........

Ya want proof from all of us!!
