    Hello fellow "F"-Chatters,

It's now time to reassemble the trans link age on the o'l 79 308!

I was wondering if anyone would offer a little tutelage as I attempt to align the linkage with the gear selector inside the transmission, or the sliding post that the seals ride on with the selector inside the transmission.

Any pictures would be a great help. How should it look when I'm done?

    Thank you,

    Chris,

Plan on having a 2nd person to help you, or at least get Kermit's shift alignment tool:

To align the shift linkage, you really need to have the detent balls & springs in place. This means making a plate up that mimics that end of the sump cover. It could even be made from a 1/2" thick block of a hard wood like oak or maple & longer bolts used.
