    I saw an ad that stated, "all black interior parts were sent away to stickey, no more to be brought back to their original beauty". What are stickey parts, and why do I see them mentioned in some car sale ads. Thanks.

    The interior parts (mainly switches) on the Ferrari tend to get sticky over time. There is a soft touch rubber type finish on them that breaks down over time (I'm pretty much sure that heat and humidity accelerate this). It will happen to all the cars eventually, some take 5 years, others 10, others 15. When they first start to fail they have a slight stick to them when you touch them and eventually they get so bad that they will even leave a black gooey residue on your fingers and get all over the place!
    They can be cleaned with alcohol, oven cleaner, degreasers etc. but it's usually a pain in the butt. There is a company that is called "Sticky No More" that takes your parts and gets rid of the sticky residue and makes the buttons and parts look new again. I still have the rubber coating on mine (in very good condition), but from what I understand, when SNM takes care of the parts they will not have the soft touch feel anymore, they will just feel like a clean plastic button/surface. Sometimes the labels don't look perfect either. However, from what I've read over the past few years SNM seems to be the best solution to the sticky button issue at this time. If a car is "de-stickied" view it as a positive because it was going to happen eventually and you will save money in the long run if it's already done.

    And there are obviously some punctuation, spelling, and capitalization issues in your quoted statement. It should probably read:

    I am currently doing a DIY de-sticky on my 2000 F360. While it is labor intensive, it is not hard for a DIYer to do. While SNM is an excellent solution, they quoted me over $3,000 to de-sticky all the plastic interior parts on a 360. In addition to their charges, you still have to do all the disassembly and reassmbly yourself, plus package all the parts for shipment to SNM.

    My local mechanic (a Ferrari expert who has done a lot of de-sticky work) estimated about $1,500 at his shop.

    If you are willing to spend the time to do it, this is a relatively easy DIY job. I liek to work on my cars, so taking on the challenge of a DIY de-sticky was not that big a deal for me.

    Any switch markings that are screen printed on top of the plastic coating will be lost (on the 360 that was only the arrows on the AC vents and the "Lock" wording on the door locks), but all the lettering on switches and dials that are part of EL panels will not be removed. SNM is able to reprint these markings as new. On my 360, I was able to retain all the AC panel markings, and all electrical switch markings. I have about 10 hours of labor and about $50 in supplies, and I am about 75% done with my de-sticky process and I am very satisfied with my results so far.

    If you go the DIY route, you can use Simple Green or Easy Off Oven cleaner and paper towels. There are several threads on FChat that explain how to do it.

    Let's clarify this to "modern Ferraris" ;) Older cars, up to the 1985 308 at least, never had the soft touch coating on any of the switch gear, and don't get sticky.

    Do the 328 buttons have the soft touch coating that gets sticky?

    I believe the 348s do, and certainly the 355s do. How about the Testarossas?

    Yes, "StickyNoMore" is the name of the refinishing company, that refinishes them.

    Testarossa (1984-1991) no. I believe some 512 TR owners have reported issues so I would take a guess at ~1992>.
