added spacers to my 2003 575M a couple of days ago. When I took the wheels off to add the spacers I had to remove a small bolt in the hub and another bolt with a 3/4 inch long "metal tube" attached to it. Since putting the wheels back on with the spacers the "CAL." warning light will not go out (the tire pressure system is not working). I have pushed the special button to start the calibration and have driven the car for up to 30 minutes (the manual says it can take up to 20 minutes) but the thing just does not calibrate. Nothing happens and the "CAL." is constantly lit. System worked fine before adding the spacers.

are the metal "tubes" that have threads on them the wheel sensors?

anyone else that has added spacers, do you have this same problem?

any other ideas what's the issue?

Can anyone discribe how the tire pressure system works, how it is adjusted, etc. What kinds of sensor exists in a wheel, how and where does it send a signal. Does the sender have a battery, what kind, if not how does it send anything? Is there a receiving unit in the wheel wheel, if there is how does one adjust it as it looks like the part has a adjustable sliding part. Is this receiver then connected to a computer. After a lot of low tire signals, does the computer have to be reset by cutting battery power for a period of time. Someone out there must know how this works. If I am having a problem with 1 wheel, where do I start to solve the problem without buying unnessary parts. It appears that the left front is the problem. Before I owned the car, the tires were replaced, and someone may have screwed up the internal sensor, or maybe it just needs a battery. How should I start? I have a replacement receiver that I could try, but it has a sliding part. How is this set? HELP! fred

alot of good questions. After having my issue work itself out now one of the front sensors is not transmitting or there is some other kind of issue. Replaced the sensor in the wheel and still not reading the pressure.

I have little experience with the Ferrari TPMS but have had to replace one wheel sensor. We detected the fault using our SD2 and calibrated it using the same. If you replace a wheel sensor you will need to log on and calibrate the system to the new transmitting signal of the new sensor. Each sensor has its own code and the receivers in each wheel well require calibration for the signal. I don't know of any way to replace a sensor and have it work without logging on to the system but I also don't have much hands on experience with it, since you have the new sensor in already you may see if the dealer can calibrate it for you.

    Best of luck.

If they are like the Enzo sensor the battery is internal and not replaceable. The whole sensor with valve stem has to be replaced. They will last maybe 4 - 6 years at most. One (or more) of the sensors on my car are bad giving me the fault light. I will replace them all at the same time when it is time to replace the tires. Make sure they are all stamped with a recent date.
