I noticed a tiny crack on the bottom center of the windshield on my 430. It is very small, just a few millimeters in diameter, the size of a small bug.

Any recommendations on a place in the Bay Area to repair it? Someone mentioned I could have it patched since it is so small.

    Thanks

Call Mike Crodoni with GlassFusion 408-472-9675.
He does windshield repair. I had a small chip in my Viper, he made it basically dissapear. Sometimes there is still a tiny visible spot of impact, nothing most people would notice without looking for it. But a repair keeps it from suddenly cracking and becoming a bigger problem. Tell him Mike at Smythe Volvo recomended him. He is mobile ,so he can go to your work or home.

Thanks for the reference. I mentioned this to someone at work today who has a 430 and they also recommended Mike! I set up an appt with him, sounds great.

damn! i thought i heard an impact sound yesterday and my friend pointed out the rock chip!

modenaboy, so how did mike do?
curious to know your feedback may determine whether i try to have it repaired or just have the whole thing replaced.

    thanks

Patch it if you can. Certainly much less costly.

Just had to replace my 355 windshield and after 3 quotes, I had to settle for the $3.300 bid.

    Thanks for the input.
I'm not concerned about cost....that what insurance is for :)
just pay my deductible and call it a day!

That's the route I went too and feel the same way.

But if I could have repaired it for a fraction of the cost instead of filing a claim, I definitely would have.

    hmmm....did they raise your rates?
    I assume it's under comprehensive.
Claims under this category usually don't ding the policy holder unless there's excessive claims / neglect.
    Correct me if I'm wrong.

I just recently filed the claim and it was under comprehensive. I haven't gotten word that it would adversely affect my rates and don't expect that it will. Like you said, that is what insurance is for.

Sorry I didn't notice this thread to report back - Mike did the repair for me back in October '07, and I couldn't even see the crack when he was done. Windshield seems perfect, no problems after a few months.

Mike was great, came to my place, got it done quickly and a great guy - thumbs up!
