    Is their a way to find out what car dealership my car was originally purchased at?

    Seems like it would depend on what kind of car you have - if it's the Camaro in your profile, I'd assume you could carfax it, look at the original registration, and call a few dealers in the area since I can't imagine anyone has to buy a Camaro out of their area (no insult intended, simply that supply was high enough that it shouldn't have necessitated a long distance purchase)...did you try giving the VIN to your local Chevy dealer? Most of them have been computerized for a while now afaik and I would assume they might have the info as well...what options have you tried thus far?
