Hello everyone! I'm thinking about getting a 355 (Berlinetta or GTS) and had a couple questions... First, what is the expected clutch life for a manual 6-speed car? I was quoted roughly $4,000 for a clutch replacement from a Ferrari dealer and I was just curious if this is on par. Also, they qouted me $7,000-$8,000 for the 15K major service--is this pretty standard as well? Correct me if I'm wrong, but the factory recommends this every 3 yrs or 15K miles, right? Thanks in advance for the help!

I think the numbers look about right. You might find a good mechanic to save a few dollars. You would need to ask around your area.

Personally, I think the 3yr / 15k miles major is very conservative. If you are a very conservative guy then maybe that recommendation is for you. I would guess that most do the service every 4-5 years and some owners much longer. It won't damage the car to wait unless you have a failure. If the belt fails by it's own fault or a tensioner, then you have potentialy a major problem($15-20K est.). I can only report my own personal experience. My car just had the major done for the first time (7 years). The tensioners and the belt look new. I still have the parts. The leak down test was between 2-4% for each cyl.... Now I'm pretty easy on my car and don't abuse it.....

    Hope that helps

    Good luck
