    Hi,

I am considering buying a 458 Challenge and have embarked on first learning about these cars. There isn't a whole lot of technical information on-line on these cars, so I am hoping your guys can help. Here it goes...

    1. Differences between the base 458C and 458C Evo
    2. number of 458C Ferrari produced
    3. price for a new car from Ferrari
    4. alignment/ride height settings
    5. normal engine compression readings (cold & hot)
    6. I am assuming no data acquisition came with these cars, anyone added something like the AiM system?

    Thanks very much in advance!

    1) differences are in the aero kit. Evo has new nose, front floor/splitter, different air ducting in front, welded-in rear wing support, rear wing uprights and wing itself. Car also has higher rate front springs. Otherwise, the cars are identical across the production run with exception of multiple software upgrades (any dealer or team can do it) and a few generational improvements on gearboxes. As the cars evolved, there were small detail changes (Eg. replacement of window triangle with a CF piece).

    2) number produced? Someone must have a count, but I would estimate 350+ globally

    3) new MSRP for an Evo car was $345K in NA (or so). Non-Evo was $305K (or so). That's MSRP, most dealers will work a nice deal on new cars if you are racing in the series. YMMV. There are no more new ones, and "difference from MSRP" is not a good way to look at value of used race cars

    4) alignment settings, uh, for which track, what conditions, which driver? There is no single answer. Plus it's not just alignment, it's spring rates, which dampers, how many packers, what rake, what bar setting, what wing angle, etc etc.

    5) engines are essentially stock 458 engines, so use the same specs

    6) the cars come with a full DDU you can download upwards of 500 channels of data from the logger from brake pressure to ignition advance. Not the most user friendly, but it's there. (Morelli's system). You can piggyback an AIM SmartyCam or something, but I"m unsure if all the channels work with the Marelli CAN (eg. in 430, we needed to add a brake pressure sensor in-line).
