Hi everyone, I have a old Tubi stainless exhaust system on my 84 308 QV USA model. It just seems too quiet for me. Is there a better way to bring out some more sound from the engine? Does Tubi make anything louder than my old 20 year old Tubi system? Nothing wrong with my current system, I just want it a bit louder.

Does anyone have experience with the Tubi Loud system or the Rumori system?

    THANKS in advance everyone!

The USA QV is interesting in that it's quieter due in part to the merged collector for both banks. Modifying it to the euro setup with separate banks and dual muffler in.. that gets much louder. But that's an entire system replacement.

The only other work around I can think of is a valved setup.

Tubi isn't a quiet setup as it is. How loud you looking to go?

Hi SMG, I am getting hard of hearing so that is why I want it louder. It seems to have gotten more quiet as my hearing has gotten worse. :)

Mike, do you know what the louder version is called? Tubi Loud? I cannot find any info on that.....

Get rid of the Cat,I did and my 328 sounds fantastic, I also have the US version, and I never had a complaint, its got well over 80,000 miles on it, my car has 105 k miles. Putting in a test pipe, say Larini for example, will bring the volume up just right with a lot less money.

Check out Nouvalari. I have a set of Tubi headers going into a Nouvalari exhaust and WOW. Almost problematically loud.

Full disclosure, I have a '86 3.2l QV engine (from a 328) in my '81 308 so your results may vary.

Whatever you do, lose the cat and get a test pipe as well. Dont lose it, just put in the Larini. Your car is choking as if you have your hands around its throat .

Just a word of caution if you take this route. I also have a 1984 QV US Spec. When I bought the car, it had the CAT removed. The NOX from the exhaust were nasty, you could never hang around near the back of the car while it was running. Sort of a problem if you are accessing the storage compartment or working on the engine! Not good for humans or the environment! I also found that even though the car sounded great and had a nice bark on and off the gas ... in the 50-60mph range it had a terrible drone, so interstate or highway trips were painful. Not a problem around town. I ended up put an aftermarket performance CAT in line, it kept most of the nice sound but killed the NOX and helps everyone breathe easier :)

I hear you about the smell . I had exhaust tip extenders custom made ( 0nly was bad when driven with the top off ) . I dont work on the car so I dont have to worry about that. My motor runs fantastic no matter what the RPMs are with my 328 . Ive thought about a performance cat, but have not pulled the trigger, Im ok with the way it is . Im so happy that the motor and compartment are so much cooler without the cat.

I have the loud tubi on my 81 2v . I really like it. No drone when cruising , pretty loud when accelerating hard and moderate when driving normally

The Tubi is the best muffler for the 3 x 8s , the quality and sound are second to none, its that simple. Matched with a test pipe allows the car to breath properly and run cooler on the hottest of days. The motor compartment gets so hot with that cat, that until I removed it, I left the engine lid open for an hour every time I got back from a drive. The cat converter on the 3 x 8 s is to the detriment of everything under the engine lid, motor included. Removing the cat is the best mod that I ever could have done to the car. At 105 k miles, my 328 runs better than the day it came out of the factory. I dont give a flyiing **** about the **** suckers at the CARB, or the pricks at the sierra club, they can go **** themselves, everyday of the week, and twice on Sundays. di fi is finally ****ing dead, thank God.

Put a test pipe on it and it will wake it up.

As mentioned, the smell is a ***** with the test pipe. I ran like that with my Tubi for probably 15 years then finally had enough and threw on a Hyperflow.

But try the test pipe for fun. Its a 20 min swap in your driveway on and off if you don't like it. No downside to trying.

Thanks Tommy, I have three cars from the 80s and they all smell like that. I don't like it but I put up with it. :)

The loud Tubi is called just that " Loud Tubi stage 2" . Removing the cat will increase the volume and increase flow. Be sure to check the CIS mixture if you remove the cat. I have test pipe and stage 1 Tubi absolutely love it!

I installed the Tubi Racing unit on my '85QV. Also put on the cat bypass from ebay. It sounds great. I do not think it is too loud. I would 100% do it again. Worth noting that the diaper does not fit with the tubi.

I read a few days ago that the DOJ & EPA are suing ebay for selling 340,000 emissions defeat devices (like cat test pipes) which could cause a fine in the billions. So it you're planning to buy a test pipe maybe get it quick
