    Hi

Just bought a road legal 360 Challenge, will pick it up in 2-3 weeks. The car is original except for the handbrake that has been installed when registered in Sweden. Dont ask me how they manage to register it, should not be possible, but great for me.

I bought the car cause I think that it is so nice to have a real race car. I sadly dont have time to go on track days that often, hopfully one or two per year. So to buy a car that wasnt road legal would have just been a very expensive "pice of art" in my garage. I understand that there are better Ferraris for road use but this is cooler in my opinion, makes a 360SC look like a practical car.

    My questions:

    1. What modell of tires whould work best on my car? I will mostly use it for driving to work, got about 15km of country road( roads in farly good condition). Has to be road legal tires.

    2. I got no key to my car, but there are locks. Searching a bit on the forum and understand that some 360CH were delivered with and others without keys. Can you order new from Ferrari? Is there a cheaper way to get around the problem? Can a locksmith make a new key without the original key, with just the lock itself?

    3. Have a hard time finding a Tech manual, owners manual or workshop manual for the car. Can you download them anywere or does someone have them that can send me a PM?

    4. How should I set up my car to work best on the road? How should I adjust it? I dont want to change any major parts, like it to be as original as possible, but I guess there are some adjustment settings on steering and suspension?

Would be great to get some input from more experienced 360 Challenge owners.

Will post some pictures as soon as I get the car. Its all red without stickers.

    Hi Bjorn,

Will attempt to help on the basis of my 355CH experience:
    1. I went for Michelin Pilot Super Sport (same type as veyron etc..) durable and good for the occasional track day
    2. Perhaps a ferrari dealer can supply new keys on the basis of the chassis number. Otherwise you will have to change the locks
    3. There is a site where you can find a number of WS manuals for download. If you google it ytou will find it. May not include the CH 360 though
    4. If the car still has the challenge springs, I would suggest you replace them with something like the CS springs. This combined with resetting the height for road usage should make a huge difference to the streetability. Obviously keep the original springs

    Well done for your purchase

    Thanks for the input thibaut.

Will check with my dealer if they can get me a new key, but know from experience that an original Ferrari key normaly cost a lot.

Easy to find all sorts of manuals online for Ferrari but not for CH-cars.

    Pictures will be posted....

Indeed, the WS manuals are hard to find. I managed to get one 355CH scanned. Worthwhile asking dealer network they may have some lying around.

I just use the street car wsm and that will get you 90% of what u need and the rest is pretty easy to figure out. Ur nuts for driving it on the street! I don't like driving mine around the paddock!

I have limited experience with driving the 360CH on normal roads, I just drove it on proper racetracks and once from one workshop to another on normal road. Vibrations are huge compared to street car, also clutch not made for stop and go. Also you cannot lock the car and windows can be opened from outside. I dont know if this could cause some Insurance Issues? Also Steering is different to street car.

Waiting for answer from my dealer on prices if you buy direct from Ferrari, on keys and WS manual.

Will get new belt and oil before I pick it up so have to wait an extra few weeks for. Dont mind, cant say that spring has fully arrived in Sweden yet, need a few weeks more anyway.

Will post pickture when I pick it up.

Dont Think it will be a problem with the Insurance ( with the windows). On the registration it locks like a normal 360. Dont Think I will leave the car that often ( outside my own garage) and if you Close the window hatch then most people dont know that you can open it from the outside, still would be nice to be able to lock it. Most folks know that a car dor opens with the help of the handle;). And many may be temted to try....

Maybe not made for start and stop but dont have any traffic lights on my way to work and mostly country roads. Have other cars when its time to go the city...

Drove a Lotus exidge S1 before, as long as you drove faster then 70km/h you could not hear what the passanger was saing and you could feel every bump in the road though your spine....I loved it. Maybe not great when I drove it home from The Netherlands but for a short sunday ride...

The only thing I can answer is yes, a locksmith can take the cylinder apart and build it to a key match

my dealer here said "Forget it" to street driving a 360C saying the clutch issue was unworkable.
I guess only if you stop a lot!!!

We ended up doing 30,000 km of Tarmac rallies in the 360CH, the transport stages hurt the car the most with constant stopping and that mongrel clutch lurches on take up each and every time. Thankfully the 430CH/GT3 has the double plate system making take up easier.
In the 30,000km we went through two clutches and it was the brass buttons wearing more than the pressure plate.

Not sure, but what I have heard, the clutch software in a CH 360 is changed so you dont have a smother transition below 5000 rpm. Wouldnt it be possible to just change that software to the normal 360 clutch software? Is the mecanicl bit, (plate sice...etc) different in the Challenge car as well?

Perhaps just keep the original as is and buy another transmission ECU to have it flashed with the 360CS programming. Shouldn't break the bank.

It is the bronze type clutch plate that makes it so harsh not the software.

I find it easy to move around parking would be a pain if you're in a tight place though.

Yes, clutch is different on 360C compared to the street legal versions of the 360.

can you do a bit of mapping changes using an sdx

I used to have the challenge maps on my 360 .. but tweaked them a little because it was unusable on the road in traffic.

It is not the map that makes it harsh. It has a race plate fitted!

have to use the car a bit fist and see, maybe I dont feel that the clutch is that big of a problem. As I said before, wont use the car everyday. Far from it. Cant get a hold of my contact at my dealer, going to be nice weather this weekend and time to go for the first ride of the year. Would be nice to do in my "new" 360.

Ahh!!! Have to wait further on delivery of my car. The guy who is selling the car through my dealer bought a 599 when he sold this car. Apperantly that car has a major problem when they whent through it now, so they have to figure out who should pay what when it comes to fixing it. This means that allso my deal is standing still at the moment. Nothing wrong with my car so thats nice and hope that tha guy will sell to me as planed even if they cant work things out with the 599. So you have to wait for pictures but hopefully the will be uploaded soon.

So, finaly got my car today. As always when you pick up a new car, got a bit nervus. Real nice weather today here in the south of Sweden, perfect.

But my first ride was not realy perfect. After 20minutes highway driving I got an error code( ABS ER). Sopped and it dissapeard. Started driving and it appeared again. The car worked fine and no problem when I tried the brakes a bit. think later that I didnt pull the hand brake up all the way. After a second stop it didnt appear again.

After 10 more minutes I started loosing power and then the car stopped. Manage to pull to the side on the highway. Al electric worked but couldnt started it again. Felt like no fuel but couldt see the fuel level on the screan. Called my dealer and the mechanic told me to switch the display and found the fuel level: 0.

So my dealer send out a guy with a 10liter fuel container. 30 minutes later hi found me in the grass next to my car. Couldnt find the hazard light( does a normal CH have hazard lights?) so had a lot of truckers using the horne to tell me to put them on.

When the guy came he had forgoten the removable filling hose to the fuel container. So we had to cut upp a waterbottle with a key and I had to hold the fuel opening open with two fingers and the bottle with my other hand when he pored in the fuel. But the car started again and I whent to a gas station and filled it upp.

Once of the highway I could start testing the car a bit. But found that It was in "auto mode". I tried to but it in normal manuel mode but didnt work. And the thing is that the auto mode doesnt real work eather. If I stand still in Neutral and change "up" with the right pad it goes in to 2nd and skippes 1st. Easy to pull of but as soon as I hit 3500-4000 rpm then it goes up to 3rd. Then the same when it hits 4000rpm up to 4, 5 and 6th gear. As it has a limit so the car cant rev more that 4000. Does the same even if I hit the throttle hard. I cant manualy change down before it revs so low that the car wont hit 4000revs in the lower gear.

Does anyone know why the car does this and how you put it in normal manual mode?

Called my contact at my dealer, but it was quite late at that time so the race mechanic had gone home and he couldnt reach him on his cell.

At my F430 I had before you could turn on and of the Auto with the button on the centerpanel but then you could see on the display that it was in auto. On this display I cant see anything like that. Strange that there is an auto mode on a challenge car.

    need some help with this

My dealers mechanic thought that it had something to do with the different modes you can change on the dashboard.

But found out what the "problem" was. Pushed the button next to the auto button on the center consol betwin the seats. Based on what it looks like its for when the road is slippery. Then I got to normal manual gear change mode. So all good.
