I'm considering a 612 but am concerned about its ability to travel long distances without tiring out the occupants. What is it like to drive the 612 for a long distance on a highway? How comfortable is the driving position over several hours? How quiet is the cabin at 80mph? 100mph? 120mph? How much driver fatigue do you experience on a 500 mile highway drive in the 612 compared to a luxury car like a Lexus LS430 or a Mercedes S500?

Also interested to hear how good is the rearward visibility, and whether the rear seats have LATCH hooks for a child's car seat.

Thanks in advance for your comments.

While I don't own the 612, I have taken a 650 mile trip (each way) with my 30 year old 365 and had zero problems comfort wise. My wife was with me and she didn't complain either.

I doubt that the new one would be worse...

There's a FChat member who used his 612 for a trip from Seattle to Florida and back. He's done regular runs up and down the west coast in the car. Seems like it's perfectly suited for the long haul. Wait for him to chime in.

Yea, I was going to reference Eric. He seemed to really enjoy putting those mega miles on the car and didn't have any complaints that I can recall. I'm sure he'll tell you all about it if he sees this.

I find the car to be about as comfortable as the BMW 740/745 for long drives. those are the only other cars I've driven long distances in I can compare to.

There's little extra driver fatigue or aches aside from those one might expect from sitting for 8 to 12 hours at a time. Interior noise is quite good. Amenities are great, except for lack of cruise control and cup holders. A/C works well for a car with so much glass. Keeps teh air temp controlled, but the sun shines in on you and you feel warmer as a result. If i was going to spend a lot of time in southern climes, I would consider window tinting. The stereo is awesome and the room for driver and primary passenger is very good.

And when the road clears or becomes twisty, the fun really begins. The car eats up any and all roads with ease. The wide open stretches of highway go by quickly and with ease, while the small mountain passes are very nicely dealt with, too.

We've done multiple 500 and 600 mile days in the car quite comfortably. 17K miles on the beast in 6 months, and many more to come. Beats flying any day!

Yes, there are fasteners and gizmos in the back seats that I presume are for kid seats. No kids, so no idea of what or how they work, but they're there.

Definitely no problem at all to travel long distances. I put in 1,500 miles in my first 6 days after picking up the car, including one 600-miles day, and it was perfect. My wife agreed it was very comfortable, and she's anything but a car freak.

Driving position is much more natural than in a Mercedes SL, because it is more upright, and you don't break your back getting in and out. Rearward visibility is completely normal. Cabin is quiet at any speed where you might want to talk to your passenger, phone a friend or listen to music. It only gets louder at speeds where you probably want to concentrate 100% on your driving...

If practicality is your concern, one question to think about is the trunk space, which is hard to utilize efficiently, so it may be worthwhile buying the custom-made Ferrari leather luggage kit - which I didn't.

The only other question to think about is, will your passenger feel confident enough to go behind the wheel of such a car for a few hours in the middle of a long trip so you can grab some rest without an extended pit stop? More of a psychological question, as some people are incapable of driving Ferraris as if they were normal cars.

Luxury sedans such as the Lexus LS430 and Mercedes S500 aim to completely insulate you from the road, which is not at all the Ferrari style. The 612 manages to achieve a miraculous combination of comfort, extreme performance, spaciousness and driver involvement.

Any distance for front passenger and driver should be no problem.Rear passenger would probably start feeling a litttle fatigue after 100 miles's or an hour or more. Although they can sit comfortably but lacking the ability to stretch will cause some fatigue. The longer the distance the more the fatigue.
