    Can I depart VFR? Would that be quicker than waiting for an IFR clearance? Is there anything else I should be aware of?

    Sorry, never flown into Midway, but that would be awesome! Have done it a ton on MS Flight Simulator.

    Actually it will likely be quicker by filing and taking an IFR departure.

    If the weather is VFR and you don't like the routing or altitudes they give you in your clearence, just accept it anyway and then cancel after departure.

    You may not make a lot of friends with ATC, but it'll get you on your way faster.

    Remember, they don't want you in their airspace any longer than necessary.
