Hello All - I am planning to take the brake calipers off my '05 F430 non-CCM for painting in the coming week. I was hoping for some advice on a couple of things:

    1) How should I plug / seal the brake lines to prevent the lines and system from dripping (gravity bleeding) while the calipers are off?

    2) I'd like to buy any required parts for re-installation ahead of time....and I haven't spent much time examining the system. Are there crush washers that would need to be replaced. If so, anyone know the size required. Anything else that needs replacing on reinstall?

    Thanks for the help.

    - Jason

Jason- There is an early F430 workshop manual you can download for free at ferraridatabase.com. It has a pretty good description of how to R&R the calipers. In that section, it tells you to either plug the line or drain the system completely, take your choice.

Make sure you are extremely careful when installing and bleeding the brakes, the brake fluid is caustic and can damage your newly painted calipers.

You can use small cork stoppers to plug the feed and bleed ports. My powder coating co. had given me a handful so I had them available. They are readily available online.
