I've been looking at F430s recently and my research so far has led to a few questions.

    1. Is there a factory fix for the exhaust manifolds? When inquiring about cars, should I be asking if the manifolds have been replaced/fixed? Or should I just plan to spend the money on Capristo headers?

    2. On F1 cars, I've heard clutch life is 10-15k miles. I'm guessing my 2nd question should be if the clutch is original or not? Otherwise, I've read that the F1 gearbox is pretty solid.

    3. Ferrari approved certified preowned cars. Since these are dealer cars and certified, should I just trust them that everything is in proper working order or should I still get a PPI done? Should I be prioritizing these cars over non certified cars?

Is there anything else? I also know that the ceramic brakes are close to $20k to replace.

    Thanks for your help everyone

You've not done much reading here have you ?

Find & read some of the many threads about each of your questions - they are all frequently asked and answered

    Hey Kumar,
    Welcome!
Yeah, there are a lot of threads that discuss this stuff.
But, I'd like to add that clutch life is entirely subjective. That means, it depends on how each car is driven. If a PO (prev. owner) used to reverse his car up a large hilly driveway every day, that clutch won't last very long. The opposite condition is fairly obvious.

I'd also like to mention that doing exhaust (specifically, headers) upgrades isn't the end of the world on these cars. On my 360, the headers were in an early state of failure. So, after I got my first SLOW DOWN light, I discussed it with my mechanic as an opportunity to improve the car. With that mentality, it was a fun (but pricey) project.

I can't comment on Ferrari certified cars as I don't know much about them. Good luck with the search, and feel free to PM me if you want to.

Based on my experience, some Ferrari dealers will not allow you to get an independent PPI.

Kumar, it really comes down to finding a proper serviced car that has all of the records, make your self at home and have a look at all of the articles out there and make sure you find a dealer who will do a the PPI before you buy and just do as much research as possible.

In the end it comes down to do your home work and "if the deal seems to good to be true", then you know what the saying is.

    1) you might want to search on youtube how loud those headders are, also what you really need to be asking is will your neighbors mind you firing up a straight pipe F360/F430 ? Its really loud. As for the factory manifolds this is something you need to ask what sort of quality the metal is made from for aftermarket items. Do get an aftermarket system that has variable sound adjustment.

    2) Again really comes down to the car your planning to get, if your buying a special off auto trader or ebay get ready to pony up $ and expect the worst unless its factory auth dealer your going to be buying through, again buying private party is a risk and your better protected if you go through a factory Ferrari dealer, pays to get all of this in writing.
Also being in Texas, I think your primary concern should be a proper and fully functioning A/C system ?

    3) With the carbon ceramic rotors - the will last you for a very long time just as long your not going for a full out racing season in tracking your car. On Normal street driving they will last you for a while. As nice they look for the bling factor, just stay and opt for a car that is not equipped with carbon ceramics. However if you do really want your F360/430 to have Ceramics do keep your eyes out there are the occasional set that pops up for sale on ebay or fchat since the guys who track their cars do not like the carbons as the cost and metal rotors are way cheaper to run.

Thanks to F-chat members chiming in my good friend didnt get stuck with a dodgy F40 that was up for sale and saved us from a huge problem. F-Chat is like wikipedia loads of info on here.
