My dad is thinking about selling his 360 Spider this summer for a Murcielago Roadster. Typically he keeps cars for about 2 years, so with resale value in mind would it be better to get an original roadster or get an LP640 version... how much more would the LP depreciate and would it be worth it?

ps: we are also considering a Gallardo Spyder vs. these also

You can buy a 2005 roadster for about $270-280K right now, but I don't think you can get hold of an LP640 roadster for less than $450K, so I say prepare to lose $150K in depriciation in 2 years.

Your best bet IMO, is to pick up a nice 2005-2006 roadster.

Thanks, but Gosh thats a STEEP drop off for the 640's.... how much do you think the 2005's will drop from $270-280k 2 years from now? Will the LP640 market push them down further or keep them stable?

i would guess like any other murci, once there are more lp roadsters around. Maybe 40-50k in 2 years. Though 270 is pretty low for even 05 roadsters now.

I traded by 360 spider for a 2006 Marci Roadster orange/orange. I know this is off the subject, but I miss my 360 spider. The Marci Roadster is a very special car on many levels, as soon as you burn the top in a ceremonial ritual of some sort, as the top is some what of a pain. It has enough power to satisfy most people with a lead foot and if you consider the LP640's price the Murci Roadster for $280K or so is great value. I feel that with the LP640 bringing in the mid $400's, the prices of the Murci Roadsters will remain strong. I have not seen the prices drop on the 2006 Murci Roadsters since I bought by car about 6 months ago. There were not many of those cars made and it's really a striking car. Good luck with your purchase.
