I know you're not supposed to solicit medical advice online but I need some general info regarding this.

Earlier today I played about 2hr.s of fast-paced high intensity basketball and about midway through the session I began experincing some difficulties in keeping myself in the game.

Basically, it felt as if my pulse shot up incredibly high (higher than usual when I exert myself at these levels) and I began feeling a bit disoriented: slight dizyness/faint-ness, sense of "floating" and most of all, a very rapid and fluttering sensation in the bottom of my throat - as if my heart was pounding in that location. All this lines up with a sense of poor or inability of my heart to efficiently circulate blood through my body at this high heart rate - am I right?

This continued for another hour as I kept on playing (probably not a smart idea now that I look back on it). But then, fastforward another 45 mins. and I'm having lunch. I'm feeling a lot better, and then the minute I get up to leave it all comes rushing back. However, when I sit down in the car I feel a lot better

This is really weird, although I should mention it's not the first time it has happened. I've probably had 5-6 episodes of this in the past 6 months, but none as severe as today. Keep in mind I haven't dont ANY physically demanding activity since July due to a debilitating injury - but that alone shouldn't be causing this.

I am used to performing strenous exercise in the past 24 months, but these strange episodes have began occuring only within this past summer. I don't have any other known medical conditions so yeah, I'm stumped.

Any input from the local docs as to what causes this? I know it's hard to tell based on the description above - but I'm hoping for some info. anyways - aside from the routine response of an ECG :D

I would doubt if you get any response from an MD other than go see your DR. Your Doc will probably do a physical if you haven't had one done lately. He may send you to see a Cardiologist who will probably do routine lab's, an ecg, stress test, echo and maybe a tilt-table test. I'm definitly not an MD but I have been a firefighter/emt for about 10 years and before that I was a cardiovascular tech in the cardiology dept in a hospital. And I would do these test's on people with your type of symptom's. Hope this help's you.

Not a DR., but you need to see one. From what you are conveying it could be serious, not like "i got a booboo on my finger, what do you all think"

Yeah I wasn't expecting much, but it was worth a shot for some general info - not exactly a diagnosis.

Anyways, booked the date for the cardio people / testing. Hope this turns out well.

Sounds like a blood flow issue for sure.

When you have a stroke & can't talk or control you bodily functions or have a full-blown heart attack & need a quad bypass, you will wish you had stopped immediately & gone to the emergency room. Those symptoms are nothing to fool around w/. Don't be an idiot.
