Hey guys. First of all, I've been stalking around for about a week now. Let me say that's its been a pleasure reading opinions on this board. It's kind of classy here.

Anyway I am a full time student and cannot currently afford a Ferrari yet, but it will happen one day. My current debacle is that I'm getting ready to learn how to paint myself. I have a car that needs a blue finish and so I've been searching for several months for a perfect color. I finally arrived at Ferrari Tour de France blue; I love how the color can be brilliant in light and very deeply/luxuriously blue in the shadows. Anyway I stumbled across this today.

As can be seen in the description, the mentioning of "non standard paint" sticks out. Now I assume the seller is mentioning that the paint is an upgrade option from another Ferrari Blue. But just to be sure, I thought I'd ask.

Are there any variants to TDC blue? I've used BMW paint before and there have been some colors with two and three variations of the same paint. Any help would be amazing. Thanks guys.

You know there may be somthing to this question...I know that there are 2 diffrent version of Super fly yellow for lamborghini in the PPG paint code book...one is a euro mix and the other is a US mix iircc...but the shades laid on the car are diffrent...so there may be some diffrent code like that????

But the pic in the link you posted look like Nart blue? Here is the MY99 PPG paint codes...

Alright, thanks so much for the replies. I am checking into the ''The Blue Man Group" right now.

WHOA!!!! That is incredibly helpful! Do you happen to have other years in jpeg or image format?!

The blue man group as in the three guys who used to do Intel commercials.... There is no such thread listed under open thread on FC.com.

I will start researching Nart blue.

Roflol. I just reread your original post. No I'm not trying to paint myself but I do thank you for the external example of what blue skin tone would look like. ;) Jovial is good, no worries. Thanks for the new link!

Paul, good on you, italicising, icon placement 5 posts in,and a sense of humility too, you've done this stuff haven't you,,,
Anyway nicest blue ''anything''[plane, car,Picasso]I've ever seen was a 360,might have been a CS,a fellow had custom painted, paint was blended and matched to his specs,,, the write up,and pics, was posted maybe 3 or 4 months ago and I can't locate the link. It was a lighter shade than Bugatti blue but reminded me a bit of ''Petty" blue[forgive me,Enzo, much less the car owner].You might have fun trying to find that. But TdF is a show stopping shade, imho, that and a deep-deep oxblood red interior,to me 'attsa ''whoa!''
    cheers

A quick search the "Showroom" forum on this site for "TDF" yielded a few good threads on the Ferrari blues:

The "Favorite Shade of Ferrari Blue" thread from the middle of last year,

the "Let's See the Blue Ferraris" thread from late 2006,

and the "Request: Tour De France Blue" thread, also from late 2006.

Lots of spectacular shades of Ferrari blue, TDF and otherwise, in those three threads. Here is a good shot of TDF on ItzKirb's site (from the Northern California section): http://www.itzkirbphotography.com/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=13074

A+ for you BBL. I had overlooked showroom this afternoon. What a neat place! Thank you for providing these search results! I'm still getting acclimated to this site and it was very kind of you to look.

Hoodude: I will be on the lookout for that thread when browsing. Thanks! I can't really say I dig the red interior yet. Maybe its acquired taste. :) Creme and Tan for me.

Ok this appears to be the same car as above: ^

What color is this guys? This is the color I want to paint. It doesn't look like TDF to me, too much metallic and a lighter blue with less pearl look. Of course I could be very wrong and this actually is TDF blue.

Sorry to repost again, but I thought I'd post this as well. This is a picture that I know is TDF in the sun. See how the paint has a greenish flare under it? Can this be the same color?

I'm stumped. It seems like it may be the same...

shameless bump. Any help with the above pictures? I've been searching but can't find this shade, or at least TDF with this lighting. Is it really TDF or do you guys think its custom. Sorry to bother.

I beleive they are the same TDF blue. JD121 posted some pics from the toy rally of a TDF 355 that look the same to me. The best Ferrari blue ever!
