I've never used this because it seems a pain to install. And, by pain, I assume it takes more than the 5 seconds needed to deploy the wind shields in my wife's SLK.

So, can I leave it permanently attached? Does the wind deflector impede the opening and closing of the roof? If I can keep it in place with the roof up, will it impede my view out the rear window?

    Thanks in advance.

Thanks. How's the view in the rear view mirror? Obstructed.

Not to bad , as the deflector is a mesh.

I put it up once and never again due to the obstructed view.

How much difference does it make, is it worth putting it up?

It works ... although it is not a vast difference. It does tend to rattle a bit when you have the roof closed (I'm sure it rattles with the roof open, too, but it's not as noticeable). I like it when temperatures are cooler. It's not difficult to install or remove when you have the top down, but I just put it in and leave it there as I rarely drive with the roof closed anyway. Visibility is not an issue for me, but I am accustomed to using them in convertibles.

Porsche has a brilliant design on the 991, it just pops up or disappears at the touch of a switch. They probably have it patented.

It can stay in all the time.

I never use mine because in a California T you sit so low you don't need one (in my opinion).

I found the wind blocker very effective at reducing drafts. At highway speeds with the top down and windows up, it was quite remarkable.

The 991 convertible blocker is far better, though. One button vs putting this contraption together on the Cali. And the mesh makes it hard to see what kind of car is following you!

I've used the windshield many times with the top down and even at high speeds it works. Reduces considerably the air turbulence in the passengers compartment and one is able to talk and listen in a civilized way. It's an indispensable tool.

Thanks everyone! I made the mistake of reading the two pages (two pages!) of the manual last night dedicated to putting the wind deflector up. Sounds like a jigsaw puzzle…T

I believe that it is standard. My manual does not list it as optional as it does other items like seat heater, run flat tyres, adaptive light system, etc...T

It is pretty straight forward, just get it out and you'll see the hooking points on the car
