I know, soliciting free advice, advice is worth what I'm paying, lawsuits, et al..........But:

I have a case of bronchitis that I've been fighting for a couple of months. I'm going to make an appt with my Dr tomorrow, but I'm kinda worried about this:

Last night I had a coughing fit. Suddenly, for about 20-30 seconds I had pain all round my chest, upper body while coughing. Not my arms or stomach. It was more a shocking, tingling kind of pain, not like if you cut yourself. Tonight, a couple of times I had the same pain while coughing, but only on my upper back.

I don't recall it being around my heart or the pain being deep, felt more like close to the skin, so I'm thinking its nerves or muscle.

But it's worrying me, is this some kind of heart problem?

    Thanks.

If you are this concerned, go to the emergency room. Now.
Your peace of mind is worth it.

Why take a chance? It's your life.

    Pnemonia can kill you.

Not a doctor but that's what I'd do.

It sounds as though you have musculoskeletal pain, possible muscle spasm from all of the coughing. I have seen herniated disks, cracked ribs, spinal compressions fractures do the same thing as well. It could also be a simple case of pleurisy from the bronchitis. Most importantly, see your doctor.

A condition that can occur with long term coughing is called costochondritis which is an inflammatory process of the musculature and cartilage between the ribs. Always best to have a chest x-ray to rule out pneumonia.

Thank you for the responses. It's appreciated.

My Dr. did an xray and my lungs are clear and he said my arteries looked good. He said it was most likely musculoskeletal pain (in different words). Got some new antibiotics. Hope these work this time.

I didn't think it was my heart, but it was something I've never felt before, and the brain started worrying. :)
