LOL...! You're awesome, Jerry... Dude, no matter how hard i tried, i couldn't do Enzo with the dog and the four headlight car... But once i get something respectable down on paper, it'll be headed out west...

Stephan, it's actually easier than it looks... Just grab a pencil and some paper and start scribbling... :)

Yeah, but they don't have mechanical pencils and, i think, the nearest Utrecht is a thousand miles away... i'll try staples, but i don't know how high quality their mechanical pencils are... Also, i bought some bristol board, which i haven't played with in years... i can't touch it though until i get some hard lead or some charcoal - and past experience has revealed my true INability to work with charcoal, so i need some hard and soft lead before i work with the bristol... The sketch posted in this thread was done with woodless graphite... i might just buy a No. 2 pencil and a sharpener and go back to the basics...

Good man. My store has mechanical pencils, Enzo models, 360 Spyder models, and everything under the sun. :)

Thats pretty good Carb! Ive tried to do a couple drawings of people and cars etc..I tried a front shot of a 575, no resemblence what-so-ever.

I think the best sketch i ever did involved a RR Phantom, probably because they're arent too many curved in the front.

The shading isnt that bad either, thats the hardest part about drawing IMO, getting the "lighting" effects to look correct

Definetly very good for not having done anything in a long time. What else have you done (any enzo's)? Keep up the awesome work.

i wish... My whole life i've tried to draw cars, but without any success... It's easier to draw people, because we're less mechanical in design... A flaw here and there can go unnoticed because we don't have an exact shape... Cars, however, are different... Thoough some car designs are breathtaking and voluptuous, their design is still mechanical; it's exact, over and over... When it comes to proportions, i think i have some subliminal Picasso tendencies and that's okay when drawing something like a human figure or a tree, but not with cars... i leave the cars to Carsten... :)

    Thanks a lot Carbon, :)
I did not know that you were an artist also....what a surprise!!!
I must say that you are quite talented at making portraits....especially if you have not been drawing for a year!!! Keep it up, and make some new things every now and then, and then your skills will improve quickly!!! I know from myself that I get somewhat "rusty" if I don't draw for a long period, but as long as I do new things regularly, the quality improves, or at least remains steady at some level!!! :):):)

    Best

    Carsten

    Thanks, Carsten... and thanks, Tina...

Carsten, i'm pretty excited about getting back into drawing... After doing that sketch, i realized i needed to go back to basics... i went to the art store and bought a pencil, where the lead ranges from B to 9H... The soft stuff is inconsequential, i can get soft (dark) from my graphite sticks or just by using a hard pencil over and over in the same place... It's the hard lead i need to make light lines that will really help get me started when i begin a picture... i haven't used them yet as i've been very busy, but i'm looking forward to using them...

i think i'll actually stay away from Enzo or other Ferrari-related portraits for right now and just work on some self portraits... It worked for me in the past, why not try it now...? :)

    You're welcome buddy :)
I will look forward to see some self portraits from your hand Carbon :)
If you really want it......you can do it!!! :)
I have great respect for people who's doing portraits.....I have only made very few portraits myself, and honestly it does not work for me, so I'll stick to my car drawings!!! :)
