    For those interested, a quick update:

    According to the french internet site www.fan-f1.com, the new "Ministre des Sports" (no translation needed) Valérie Fourneyron has declared that the case of the Grand Prix de France will be re-examined by the new government.
    The new government "has no opposition to a French Grand Prix", but thinks that the acceleration of the negociations with the Formula One management by the former government before the presidentials was not a good thing.
    Before taking any decision, they want:
    - to have a clear perception on the level of financial guaranties provided by local/regional autorities, and also by the state itself in case of attendance not covering the costs.
    - more transparency on financing
    - they question the fact that "the Formula One boss does not seem to be interested in any effort towards solving environmental issues";
    - they point out that Paul Ricard may not be the best location for a Grand Prix, due to the traffic congestion around the circuit.

    Their conclusion is that: "A french Grand Prix in 2013 is not a done thing, but we are not opposed to it".

    An interesting aside is that the new President has said that he would like an alternance between Magny-Cours and Paul Ricard every other year...which could mean that the idea of alternating the french GP with any other european GP is not favoured any more...(what about Spa, then?)

    Sounds somewhat promising: At least Hollande hasn't just outright killed the idea.

    Maybe we'll get the French GP back some day.

    No shock here. Money matters and France has issues.
