First one is a Fiat Dino Spider The next one is a Detomaso Pantera. Also see a couple of maserati's in there, I think one of them is the Indy. Do I win any prizes? Dom
Bottom one is an Alfa I think, and the one below the DeTomaso (Mangusta?) looks really familiar but I can't place it. That 80's style concept looks familiar too. Okay, about half of them are familiar but I just recognize the Alfa, DeTomaso, and who can miss the Trident on that Maser coupe? This is going to haunt my sleep until the answers are revealed! -=Goggles=-
Aaaaack! The first and last car are built on the same platform! Maybe it IS a Fiat... I'm no good at this game... :-(
Agreed...I am really tired after ugly week, but my daughter and I will work on this lovely coachbuilding sampler this weekend. Thanks for including some more recent Bertone stuff too, Boudewijn!! A personal fave. Hi Jeff, Stu! I love these threads
The red maserati No.66 is a Tipo 3500 GTi. A one off factory special made for Lippe....and its been at Goodwood Revival
#5 is a Lancia Sibilo concept car from Bertone in 1978, based on the Lancia Stratos http://www.conceptcars.it/carrozzieri/sibilo.htm ################# As far as the "one-offs" destined for the Motor Shows went, the 1970's closed with the Sibilo. This coupé, which was designed in the Style Centre at Caprie, is a futuristic prototype for a supercar, constructed on the chassis of the Lancia Stratos. The Sibilo builds on the concept of the Stratos, taking it to stylistic extremes. It is 10 cm longer than the Stratos, but the layout of the mechanical components remains the same. The car presents original exterior graphics which visually blend the glazing seamlessly with the rest of the bodywork. In Bertone's view window surfaces were an important feature and a rule for creating the aesthetics of a car. The total window surface area, the shape of the windows, and their blending with the bodywork, determine the car's personality but also considerably condition the designer's creative freedom of expression. Bertone had come up with many daring solutions regarding windows (the Marzal, Carabo, Stratos, and Navajo), and with the Sibilo he attempted to blend them in completely with the bodywork. In this way the car was given a more uniform look, forming a single sculpture as it were. The rear semi-monococque was entirely removable. The vehicle's steering and instrumentation was given a completely new, original touch: information is displayed digitally on a device located close to where the windscreen meets the bodywork, thus meaning less movement for the eye. The steering wheel grip was designed starting out from a plaster cast of a hand, and when you hold the Sibilo steering wheel the sensation is that of a uniform and relaxed contact with palm. Presented at the 1978 Turin Motor Show, the Lancia Sibilo is still an important example of a car which looks to the future. Source: Carrozzeria Bertone ##############
Recogise the Lancia and Maserati there. The second from the top is the Zonda, a DeTomaso prototype made in 1971 as a possible compeditor to the Maserati ghibli. The third one looks like the Pantera prototype 7X?? am i correct? steve
DretCeterini is right, the first and last car seemed to be Maserati Brothers OSCA (1600 GT) probably with a Zagato coachbuilding (looks like). The last one is a "double bubble" to me. I may be wrong but I think I got it. /Edit : Somebody found what was the Maser. Congrats.
Okay, fill in the blanks: 1. OSCA ____? 2. 1971 De Tomaso Zonda 3. 1973 Citroen-Maserati Coupe by Frua 4. ? 5. 1978 Lancia Sibilo by Bertone 6. 1959 Maserati 3500 GT by Bertone 7. 1970 Lancia Flavia "Giacobbi Sinthesis 2000" 8. OSCA ____? 9. 1963 "Lippe" Maserati 3500 GTI 10 OSCA ____?
1) OSCA 1600 cabriolet by Fissore (1961) 2) Ghia/De Tomaso Zonda (1971) 3) Fiat 130 Coupe by Frua (1973). The same body (almost exact) was used on show cars for Citroen, Porsche, and Maserati. (I guessed it was the Porsche the first time). 4) Fiat Dino "Ginevra" Special Berlinetta by Pininfarina (1968) 5) Bertone Sibilo Stratos (1978). I didn't recognize this one at first. 6) Maserati 3500 GT Coupe by Bertone (1959) 7) Sinthesis 2000 by Tjaarda and Giacobbi (1970) 8) OSCA 1600GT "Swift" by Boneschi (1961) 9) Maserati 3500GTI "Lippe" (who did the body???) (I NEVER would have got this one!) 10) OSCA 1600 Coupe by Fisssore (1961) Thanks, Boudewijn! That was fun.
Here are the results: 1. and 10 both are Osca 1600 GT's designed by Fissore. The spider in 1962 (3 made) and the Coupe in 1961. 2. De Tomaso Zonda shown at the Geneva Motor show 1971. Design by Tjaarda with front engine Ford V8. 3. Interesting car. Originally Citroen SM Coupe shown at the 1972 Paris Motor show, but at the 1973 Geneva Motor show it was there as Fiat 130 Coupe designed by Frua with a 3.2 litre Fiat 130 engine. From the outside only the Fiat batch was different from the Citroen SM. 4.Fiat Dino Berlinetta Aerodinamica shown at the Paris motor show of 1967 fitted with 2 litre Dino engine. 5.Lancia Sibilo by Bertone originally shown at the Turin Motor show of 1978. Based on Stratos. 6.Maserati 3500 GT Bertone 1959. 7.Sinthesis 2000 by Giaccobi designed by Tjaarda with Lancia Flavia 2000 engine. Shown at Turin Motor show of 1970. 8.Osca 1600 GT Boneschi Coupe from the early 60-ies. 9.Maserati 3500 GTi one off with Zagato design #101.2854. So most answers were found which tells a lot about the high level of knowledge this forum has. I want to say Jeff knew 8 out of 10 so "primus interparis".
Jeff, we were working on the answers at the same time. Thats why it doesn't sound like an answer. Very good!
Excellent!!!......Well done. I struggled with quite a few of them, but enjoyed it immensely. Should do more of these. kept me amused waiting for the phone call to pick up my daughter and her new baby from hospital.
