Hi, Ed - hope all is well. Did you own the car for only two years? I have you acquiring the car from Tom Meade on 05 December 1967, but then selling it to Tonkin sometime after. Then Carl Hedden bought it from Kirk White in October 1970.

Before you bought it from Tom, do you know if he bought it from Sergio Braidi - the same guy who bought it from the now deceased original owner, Luciano Bonacini?

 

Yeah I always tell my wife its like a woman obession without involving other women. Probably less expensive too. I think she is jelous of the cars though.

My problem was my Father in law was a racer back in the 60/70's and my wife as a child saw people being carried away on a stretcher many weekends, so now she thinks of cars only as transport tools.

 

I have used that line many times, so true. She still does not believe me, its a deep childhood truama.

Fortunatly the kids are Ok, to them speed is something normal, although I am happy they find no attraction in motorcycles, unlike me who has failed to mature. Still seekig that perfect car which fuses the mind and machine as a great bike does.

 

this is what i always tell my wife when she complains about me going somewhere for a car thing.... 'i dont smoke, i dont drink (that much), i dont womanize, i dont even play golf !! my only vice is cars". and that usually gets me off the hook.

 

Do the words.."Hayabusa" help? It is one big scream to ride.(Particularly if you have a true need to go very very fast on two wheels) Cars are a more personal item.

 

maybe whatever auto-hobby-tolerance gene Meg Cameron has could be distilled, bottled and sold to other wives??

My reply: I am not driving my Ferrari.

She: I wondered why you didn't wave back.

(Why is she waving at strange men in sports cars? Hmmmmmm.)

BTW my wife will only drive a stick shift. She drove the 360 F1 Spider once and did not like it. She loves her Boxster S with a stick.

Your quote about not driving your Ferrari being like not having sex with your girlfriend is hilarious! I quote you frequently.

We have had our Testarossa just over a week and we have already put almost three hundred miles on her and displayed her in a car show. The mileage would be higher were it not for a couple of rainy days this week. I can't stop driving her. My wife is addicted too, but it's a wonderful addiction.
