Anybody looking for such a thing? We've got a couple requests and since I've got the machine shop looking at putting these into production. Thought I'd ask if anyone else is looking for such a unique thing. Pretty simple, manifolds to mount DCNF carbs from the early yrs into the QV heads. Billet aluminum. We're increasing our catalog of parts this coming yr.
Would also allow for DCNF type throttle bodies, facilitating individual runner EFI, if that was your thing.
Since you're taking suggestions... And chance for a SIMPLE turnkey coil-over-plug package using OEM ECU harness connections?
Yes yes.. But when we get requests for such things and it's also an option for those that want ITB EFI.. why not? But hey, steampunk 308 sounds awesome! Going to go find a boiler and water tank!
Not sure how that would work though, stock is dizzy and there's no ECU to plug into from the factory that handles that. I've developed a COP system but it is it's own stand alone harness.
I believe F1 ditched carbs around 1965 or 66. I still have 2 carburetors in my life, one is on a 1958 Aeronca and the other is the Onan generator on my RV which, ironically, I am currently replacing because it doesn't work.
Vive la différence. Good on 'ya Scott for providing more choice to the 308 community. I have six carbs in my life - four of which are found on a 1979 GTB - and I have to say the throttle response of the '79 is ridiculously more crisp than my '83 with K-Jet. I'm also perfectly OK driving something that someone would want to have in their museum. - Dave
FormulaGT in Germany has been making them for years, I believe for IDF carbs, which are a far better option as they can get to 48mm, and even the 44IDF flows a good bit more air than the 44DCNF, which has 44mm butterflies at the bottom but is 42mm at the top of the carb! Weird that weber did that. Anyway, the knockoff IDF carbs available now are IMO far better than an old set of Italian Weber IDFs. The casting and machining quality of the knock offs is just plain superior. The IDF manifold on a 4v engine using throttle bodies or carbs makes fabulous power. Definitely an upgrade even on a stock engine. Some may not like carbs, but some, and I believe most these days, really really love them as value reflects. Somethin about them. I'd take a carbureted 512BB over an injected 512BB all day long, same for anything. This one made 420hp at some 8300rpm or so..... Image Unavailable, Please Login
