I am looking for the parts to convert to two belts . My car keeps spining the signal belt off! I know this was discussed here. Anyone have or know where I can get the the tensioner and pulleys? Thanks

You have the 3 belt (water pump, alternator, AC) setup now and you want to convert to the older 2 belt setup?

I would bet if you posted this as a trade, you'd have a lineup of owners wanting your 3 belt setup. The reason Ferrari switched to the 3 belt arrangement was because of issues with belts getting thrown off the 2 belt configuration, where alignment was more difficult.

If you're having trouble with belts throwing on the 3 belt setup, I would think you'll have even more trouble on the 2 belt. At the minimum, switching to a 2 belt setup will require careful alignment of the parts to reduce the likelyhood of throwing belts - wouldn't it be easier to spend that careful alignment effort on your current 3 belt configuration to eliminate the belt throwing?

By "two belts" the OP means separate belts for the WP and alternator (i.e., the later three belts total set-up) -- no one goes the other way! ;)

When my car was not driven much, it threw belts. Averaging about 4k miles a year, i have not had a belt issue. (I have a 1983 QV.)

Search for posts by "Dr Tommy Cosgrove" - he got the official Ferrari TSB Upgrade Kit when he did his change on his 308. It's a lot more than a tensioner and a pulley... You can search this forum section for posts by him and appropriate keywords, I know he has posted several times about this upgrade (and about how difficult it was for him to find the official upgrade kit, and that you'd have to know exactly what parts to get from recyclers and resellers to put together your own version of the kit)

Here's a thread he posted two years ago: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/308-328/387161-1-2-belt-wp-alt-upgrade-service-bulletin-308-a.html

It looks like the Service Bulletin is 10-10, released December 28 1984.

The Service Bulletins are available online, I have most of the ones relevant to my 84 QV. Here's one source: ferrari documentation - service bulletins - but it doesn't seem to list 10-10.

I just responded to Veet in a PM.

Unfortunately, I spoke about contacting Rutlands. Looks like he did and didn't get far. Brian helped me (I had a hard time remembering his name for some reason) but this was back in about 2005 and he has long since moved out to the West coast. He just happened to know all about it - I had no idea one existed.

The thing to do now, I suppose, is to find a blown motor (I know... good luck) that has the 2 belt set up already. 1985 308's, some late 84's and I THINK the Mondials. For some reason I want to say the Mondial QV's always had them, which makes no sense to me.

    Good luck with it.

Made another call found a tensioner. Now I guess I need a pulley. Was there anything else? I would think the alternator would have to move over to the other pulley. So spacer ?

Im not familiar with a tensioner. If memory serves, i got two different pullies for the wp and alt and the one big one that is down on the crank that had three grooves for the two belts plus the a/c belt. Brian found everything i needed but had to source two different cars out in California. He brought back everything all the way down to every last fastener and even the belt cover. After a brief struggle, we just left the cover off. It was cute and all.... but just not worth the effort. I dont recall what the problem was but clearly, after nearly a decade of use without it, it can be left off.
