I thought I would start a thread that shows the updates as I go... Its -27C (-16F) here in Calgary. Probably the best time to do the conversion. Started here.... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The side skirts were installed in 1986. Underneath is the untouched "round belly panel". Good news there. We will be removing the US marker lights, window tint, rear US bumperettes and tail light panel. So far I have collected all the parts. Should be fun....
I did do the rear tail lights section in my garage and removed the bolted assembly of the bumperettes... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Disassembled the US tail light assembly, assembled euro tail lights and test fit.... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I will remove the protective film on the tail lights and adhere the reflectors when the car is painted
After the tail light sections were done, I located the holes for the logos as per Joe's own DD measurements that he posted (Thanks Joe!). There was a small measurement modification to the location of "countach" in relation to "5000quattrovavloe". I think its pretty close now.... Image Unavailable, Please Login
The original side skirts were never removed. The skirts I removed were aftermarket and were installed over the original side skirts. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Absolutely. The car is coming apart now at the restorers (more pics to come). We are going to cut those middle bumperettes and cap them so water can’t get in. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
I’m looking forward to seeing the progress on the euro front bumper. I had Maranello in Calgary do my euro conversion and I was not happy with the gap between the top of the front bumper and the hood.
I bought my euro bumper at Ultimate motorworks,(Lamborghini Orlando) factory pt nmbr, its quality was horrible, needed lots of finish and fit,in order to be painted, also brackets/fastning requires some creativity.
Good to know! I've seen a few cars with these and didn't know they were installed over the originals. Can't wait to see them off of the car.
I had the same side skirts on my car. Paint and rockers were perfect underneath. Just had to get the lower portions of the fender flares and have them painted
Disassembly has started. The side skirts came off easily... And underneath is the original round belly. WHEW! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
few more wide angle... Front bumpers off. We might as well remove the radiators and make sure they are clean. So far, little to no rust. We will remove the paint to the metal. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
you are in time for an "LP400" conversion now congrats! and very good the "round" metal panel is there and intact! that would be a major issue and cost to redo
