Hi there, I picked up a pair of ignition caps and rotors for my 85 QV euro from superformance. They are not of the quality that the original parts are (OEM were Magniti Marelli I think). I'm considering sourcing a pair of caps and rotors from Marenello Classic but thought I'd see if anyone has solved this (i.e. best approach to caps / rotors)? Caps seem like they could be workable - I had to drill to deepen the holes for ignition wires, and use the old screws (the new screws were not sharp enough to pierce the ignition wires). One of the rotors didn't even have the center conductor... Thanks for your thoughts.

I'd contact them about the rotor. They will likely send you a replacement. I've bought rotors from them and they were fine. FYI, that center piece is not a conductor, it's a spring.

There is no Marelli marks, this is repro, please take care
Tom Yang made a video about the distributor cap was blank on top where marked Marelli originally and he said the copy dimensions were too tight. I believe this is may be the mold shrinkage effect from casting reproductions.
Take care and only use original parts

Magnetti Marelli caps have not been made by them for some time. Some NOS are still out there, but caps are now reproductions. I think someone bought the tooling, but I have no idea who the current manufacturer actually is.

Marelli itself was acquired and merged into a Japanese firm, in turn now owned by private equity firm KKR.

What diameter spark plug wire are you using? I believe the original is 7mm.

I bought a full set from Superformance but I'm unsure the diameter. It fit just fine into the cap but the hole wasn't 'deep' enough.
