In the middle of servicing the belts, cam seals, bushings and a host of other items. These hoses took a while and some trial and error to track down, figured I'd post the info as it may help you out if you are without these parts or need new ones.

The photo with the orange hoses shows the fresh air intake hose to the 85amp late model 308 alternator. The hose on the left is the original to the car, after I cleaned it up. There aren't any issues/rips/problems with it, but I figured after 25 years let me retire it if I could find a new one. The one on the right is an exact match in terms of size and consistency. Bends easily, although it feels just a little stiffer than the one I took off the car, which could be attributable to it being new, or that it was in a box on my porch for 10 hours and it's about 45 degrees outside, or both.

The replacement came from http://www.aircraftspruce.com/menus/ap/ducting.html. It's SCEET Ducting in 1-3/4" diameter, part #5-30607. A whopping $15 with shipping.

The photo with the silver hoses shows the elusive fresh air hose that runs from the passenger side intake duct to over the passenger side CV joint, although some say it runs over to the cat, but that's too far back and would be difficult to route the OEM hose to as it would require a couple more bends. The one on the right is the one original to the car. Again, nothing wrong with it but I figured if I can source a replacement, why not. Although I felt sort of blasphemous, I did try a number of Porsche 930 hoses that on the net looked identical to the OEM, but when they arrived they were neither silver or metallic. They were all black and made from cardboard type material. So I pee'd on them and then lit them on fire (only joking, I returned them). I was making an order for some shop supplies from McMaster so I ordered the silver hose on the left. It is an exact fit diameter wise to the OEM part, however, it is totally different in composition. It is heavier, it is tough. The original feels like it will collapse if you squeeze it while making a radius, this McMaster part won't collapse unless you drive the car over it. It's part #55015K26 from McMaster; aluminum medium gauge metal hose 2-1/4" ID, 2-1/2" OD; $6.30 per foot, you need 18-20" of it. I am going to use it, and bag my OEM and put it in a closet. The McMaster part is cheap enough and easy to replace if it gets damaged.

Good luck with your projects, and thanks to everyone for your advice over the years,
    Phil

I got the same hose from McMaster -Carr. I ordered the stainless steel as the weight is insignificant to me(I can save more through a quick diet). I choose to flatten the hose slightly where it passes by the engine and chassis to get more clearence from engine, as it passes through the loop. FYI it will slip from the upper connection if you don't get the loop tight around it, otherwise it works great.

Thanks for the information, I have been looking for a (non-expensive) source for the alternator cooling hose for my 1985 Mondial QV Cab. The one that was there, well kind of there - it wasn't connected to the alternator - is metal similar to the one you show, but about 1.6 inch ID. Does anyone know if the metal one is the original for the Euro Mondial QV?

But anyway, between the 2 sources you have supplied I can get What I need. Yes!

My '83 RHD UK delivered Mondial QV coupe has a similar type of aluminum cooling hose for the alterntor - not connected to much...
No hose going to the CV joints though, but that might simply be missing. Anyone can let me know the exact routing of that hose? Appreciate your advice.

    Regards
    Urs
