It was alright. I expected a little more speed and idiotic maneuvers. I don't know much about biking but it seemed like they could have gone a little more hardcore down the mountain.

I don't know if you were counting but the Tail of the Dragon is 318 turns in 11 miles. The fact that they kept the shiny side up is good. Next time you are driving your car around some turns, open the door and put your knee on the ground and you will get an idea of how "hardcore" they were going. Don't forget that this is a public road and that motorhome at the beginning could have popped up anywhere.

Yeah that was definately a slow ride. But it was on public roads.

It would be incredibly harder to drop a knee out from a car than it would off a bike. Those guys weren't even hanging off. I'm almost positive that when I first started to learn how to ride I was hanging off more than them.

Then again you can't really memorize how much speed you can take into those corners when theres over 300 of them.

slow ride? I doubt it. Was it the fastest the dragon has ever been slayed, probably not. Lots of big talk here. I noticed the guy in front of the canera dragging knees in both directions. Thats lovely street riding in my humble opinion. Remember, these guys are on a public street! I didn't intend to have everyone analyze their riding abilities; I just thought it would be a nice break from an otherwise boring day.
I guess I'll go and watch it again!

Thanks very much for posting it!

I've only learnt about the run this month so to see a visual is super valuable.
Thanks again! It was beautifully done!

Thanks for the post. Great stuff!

I guess you don't quite get it if all you need to see is more speed and idiotic maneuvers. http://www.dealsgap.com/ Just check out the map of the dragon. If you are unfamiliar with the dragon, then you are probably not a biker.

Ahh yes. Because hanging off equates to being a better rider when going riding on the dragon. I guess I don't get it. On a drive or ride through twisties like these, it is not a race to the finish line, unless of course, you are running from the locals. But they'll catch you at the end.

Over 300?! Geez. I already said I don't know much about biking, so what is fast or not is unknown to me, i just didn't hear much high revving from the bikes so it seemed like they were going slow.

Have you ever even riden a bike??? It could have used better music. I felt like I was on an elevator. Maybe some bad religion or social distortion.

Capturing the effect of speed on film is very difficult.

But they aren't the fastest group. I have a saying from snowmobiling: "A tight group is a slow group". But I won't critisize them here, did you see how fast those corners come up?

    Nice tape!

Exactly - the guy in front of the cameraman is an excellent rider who is clearly familiar with the road. The turns are very sharp and dragging knees on public streets requires significantly more dedication than at the track.

I realize that, my point was, dragging one of your limbs on the ground at even as slow as 30 mph is nothing to sneeze at.
