It ws over 60 degrees out today in Memphis. I got the R1 out for A QUICK RIDE yAHOOO! Did anyone else have the chance to get their cycle out?
it was 43* here in MN..i was soo tempted...but with the big storm we had, there was a lot of sand/slat laid on the roads... not to mention, it was all wet and big ass puddles everywhere....soo tempted though... must be nice having an R1..my next bike will be a liter bike..which one, i don't know.. currently have a 01 gix 750... ride safe bro! Aj
My R1 and the Ducs have been inside because of all the rain in CA lately. I took my SRAD out early morning today. Nice to ride some old skool bike for a change. Rain is here again, so no more riding at least for a week for me. 348Turbo How is your R1 holding up? Mine is my first Yamaha, and I was a bit hesitant after all the quality control problems of the early 90s they had. I have put 1100 trouble free miles on mine. Enjoy it very much, great bike. Wish it came in yellow. Oh well, nothing is perfect. -Ryan
It was 12 degrees when the wife and I went to work on the bike on Monday. Warmed up to a balmy 19 yesterday. Today we had to turn off the electric gloves and electric vests because it was a scorching 37 degrees. The snow was a little touchy to roll around in last week, I even left the bike at home on Tuesday when it snowed, but luckily I had her back out on Wednesday. Bill in Brooklyn Get out and ride ....
I've put over 100K miles on sport bikes in the past few years and have ridden most of everything that has come to market ... your R1 will hold up just fine if you don't oil-starve the top-end with two-mile long wheelies Bill in Brooklyn
I (re)broke 2 ribs in the deep snow Christmas Eve 1998 on the TransAlp on a steepish gravel road. I'm more careful riding in the snow now...
the last week or so has been great riding weather here. It must have been in the high 80's a few days ago. It's gonna be a bit wet today but the rest of the week looks perfect. That's what I love about southern California, we've got what seems like at least 10 months of good riding weather.
Only when the roads are dry?? Who's really the weak one then? Hell, my wife has asked to go for a "sporting" ride during a hot day this past summer when it was raining heavily. Two words for you: Froggs Toggs. Bill in Brooklyn
sold my duc 750 awhile back, but I did put the top down on my boxster s yesterday it was mid 50's here. Next best thing to a bike I guess.
I've been pulling out the Specialized all this week, after it got above hte 30s. The first half my hands would be numb from riding, but the second half of the week has been great. It hit the 60s today, I got a friend to ride along and we rode about 50 minutes. He's a lot slower than I am, and it felt silly to be piddling along at 5mph on an empty road waiting for him...
I was talking about the roads being dry in the winter, by the way... I'm not a fan of avoiding ice patches. In the summer, I ride rain or shine. If you get sick of you wife, I'll take her off your hands... sounds like the type of woman I could get along with
The R1 has been simply flawless. I can recommend it without hesitation. I have a 2003. I am about to move to a 2004 model. Best Sportbike I have ever owned by large margin.
